It could be the next Swan. You never know :P The Swan I heard was meant to be a new series. Would this be part of the series or just a random bird though. That's the main question I have about it.

From distributor's page:

" The first 1 ounce investment coin with the image of Emu, which opens a series of Australian Emu silver coins. "

Who knows whether these will yield a good value return.

Ultimately it is an expensive piece of silver - it could be the first of a new series (the emu series). The swan series (if that is a thing) is in my opinion much more appealing because the swan is the logo of the Perth mint - and also swans are quite a lot more pretty than Emus!

Time will tell. Whatever the outcome, the Perth mint has done a good job from their perspective. High premium silver coins make them lots of money!

I'll say no more.

They were never concrete, I did say in the "rules" that extenuating circumstances are allowed ?

**Quote** I will only be placing orders on the weekends. I will not be able to place orders mid week unless there are extenuating circumstances. This is simply because I am a busy person and organising and keeping track of these orders is difficult. **End Quote**

He did say ;) Extenuating circumstances which means it will be for him to decide. I think he's done a big favour going out of his busy schedule to help some people out. Top job!  @BackyardBullion

Yeah I saw that, I thought it was a disclaimer for exceptional circumstances though - I never imagined it would be 'if you're in my gang I'll make an exception'.

You either have basic 'rules' (your choice of word not mine) or you don't, which is it?

41 euro!!! that's ridiculous! After all that's 1 oz silver in bullion grade, it's not even proof quality, neither is rare cause it has been just released... it would be rare when sold out everywhere, but come on... they can't put such price on coin just because been announced with low mintage. 30 000 is actually not that low, they are selling less 10 oz kook's for a year.

It's a mad old world. Uptake on the first emu was predictable though. They haven't simply put such a price on the coin because it's announced with low mintage. Other mints do ranges in those mintage figures without any worldwide bump in demand or prices. But this is a Perth mint 1oz Bu, a whole different species. Prices have been increasing because the coins are moving since monday, fast, in all the main regions. Australia, USA, Europe and Asia. Supply and demand, always. Main distributor sold out yesterday, Apmex have been selling out each time they source another batch (despite US buyers generally being accustomed to paying as little over spot as they can). And in the regions finding it harder to stock (US & Europe), the dealers who do still have them, or promised them, are pricing according to all of the these and other factors they know by now.

Yes, swan is it's own series, second swan coming out in the next 6-8 weeks (Bu). Emu is its own separate series.

Mate - nothing could be further from the truth. Two forum members messaged me within a few minutes of each other completely independently and asked if they could get these coins as they were a great price (compared to everywhere else) and they would likely be sold out by the weekend.

I deemed this to be an extenuating circumstance and ordered the coins.

Nothing about being "in my gang" or not!

Feel like I am being attacked here for doing a good deed...and for not good reasons...

Swan not only the logo of the Perth mint, Emu is on the coat of arms of Australia (in a face-off with the Kangaroo :))

If i'm spending that much over spot BackyardBullion or other home pourers will get my money - if i wanna splurge i have the owl coin that is IOSILVERS avatar and like it a lot, so i'd get more of those or just my favorite thing to stack - Sunshine Mint stuff were i can use my varifier ~ AJ Johnson III

He's got a forum group order with clear instructions, which you've rightfully quoted.

You are now suggesting there is a carte blanche caveat for the forum group order where he can additionally just do whatever he decides, yes? And not only that, not announce it on the forum beforehand, but only after he's purchased the whole stock for selected individuals.

Sorry, trust lost here.

These limited mintage Perth Mint coins really do start arguments don't they!? lol

I can't understand everyones' frustrations though. With the Perth mint swan proof I could because Apmex comissioned it and hogged the supply. Down to them really but it left a bitter taste with some.

This BU Emu on the other hand is available all over the place. It's arguably over priced at many dealers but if you don't want to risk paying the premium they don't! Buy some Owls at near spot instead.

I can't see what people are getting so irate over this, @BackyardBullion was just reacting to  a couple of requests to add this coin to there order. If he would have waited until the weekend then, due to there popularity, GSB would have been out of stock. He probably saw that they had very low stock and decided to order what  they had left. He was just trying to do a couple of members a favour and I don't have an issue with this. If he was after making a profit he could have kept them to himself and flogged them on at a healthy profit.

I appreciate everything @BackyardBullion does in organising these bulk orders for everyone and I think everyone else should as well.

@BackyardBullion organises and places these group orders for everyone's benefit. What he orders as well for his own or anyone else's benefit is his own business and prerogative.

I don't see the problem, in fact, I say hats off to those members who had the initiative to contact him "out of hours" as it were. They did run the risk of him telling them to go away!

He may have made a rod for his own back though; next time he will probably be snowed under with extra-curricular requests. :P

I am happy for anyone to ask at any time. If I can help someone I will, if not then (as I have on many occasion) I will politely ask them to wait.

If I had promptly come onto this thread and said, "I have bought out GS.be's stock, if you want one that will be £35 please" then I would agree that something is a miss and trust would have been lost.

It is what it is though - I don't think I have done anything wrong and would make the same decision again.

So, about this Emu, then. Yeah, i'm like that guy who carries on with his pint while there's a bar fight in progress.

Actually...... no, i'm done too. Finish my pint and get me coat, i think.

Compared with other offerings from various mints (points finger at zombie dog and cries) I think this is a fine piece.

Certainly worth picking up on for me to feature on "In Focus Friday"

GS.be have got 5 more showing in stock.

https://goldsilver.be/en/collectible/1730-perth-mint-1-oz-silver-emu-2018.html

It seems GS.be are drip feeding theit stock. At least they haven't hiked the price up on this second batch.

I am happy to add them to the group order for anyone that wants them - but I am off to bed now, if anyone wants them give me a shout after 5pm tomorrow and if they are still available we can sort something out.

Otherwise we can just wait until the weekend and sort it out then if that suits you better.

Well, those 5 that were available are gone.

If you see any available on the GS.be website throughtout the day feel free to drop me a message about adding them to the group order. If I have time I will help but I have a pretty busy today with the day job. That said, I will buy them if I have time but certainly after 5pm I can order these (if some come in stock of course).

It is fairly clear they are drip feeding their stock and they are selling pretty quickly - so I am happy to help if you want one.
