The European Mint - Cheapest and best dealer in Europe!?

Recommended Posts

So by now you may well have seen that I recently went over to Estonia to meet the owner of The European Mint and also to collect 20kg of silver shot. If you haven't seen the video go and check it out here!

https://youtu.be/TILyhBWbaoU

But I wanted to write this little review and summary of my experience with the manager of the EU mint as it was a very interesting meeting!

Before you read further you should know that I am not financially affiliated in any way with the EU mint. I was not paid by them to make this post, or the VLOG or interview you will see tomorrow. I am simply sharing my experiences as a customer and you should make sure to do your own research before deciding to use them for your own purchases.

For those of you that don't know their website is: https://www.europeanmint.com and they are a wholesaler of gold silver, platinum and palladium bullion as well as coins. They are based in Estonia, which is part of the EU. They take advantage of a VAT exemption scheme whereby if they themselves do not ship the silver they sell they do not need to charge VAT. This means that when you purchase from them you need to instruct a courier to pick up the goods and deliver it to you. Or you can pick it up in person! It is a pretty easy process and they have it all set up in their checkout process so it is pretty seamless.

Why is all of this important? Well it means that they really only use big established courier services like FedEx, TNT, UPS, DHL etc. No Hermes or Yodel like a well known Belgian dealer! You pay more for shipping but it is a much better quality of service.

But here is the best bit. The manager and his company are great. The manager is a pragmatic, enthusiastic and very intelligent individual and this shows in the way he runs his business. Their customer service is outstanding (from my experience) and having met them and seen their offices and whole set up, very very professional and organised. They want to be the biggest and best dealer in Europe and I think they are well on their way.

Now, the most important and best bit for last, pricing of silver. The manager of the EU mint is a very smart chap and he is not blind to the fact that GS.be is the "cheapest" on the market at the moment. But are they? If you have a bit of buying power (i.e. are buying a few hundred oz's) the EU mint will actually cost you less per oz on their cheapest coins. He told me that he could beat most of the prices of the cheapest bullion coins of any dealer in Europe.

So that is all well and good but not everyone can order 100's of oz at a time. That is why I will be organising the next group order via the European Mint. I don't know when this will be yet but hopefully in mid to late January. I hope you all appreciate that it is a pretty busy and hard thing to organise and I have a lot of other things going on at the moment!

I also hope to be able to work out some preferential prices for certain products they offer so we can guarantee that even with the increased cost of a decent Shipping provider it ends up being cheaper than GS.be

So watch this space!

I have a great interview coming out tomorrow that will cover a lot of the above and much more! I will link that here in due course!

But in the meantime if anyone has any comments or feedback on the EU mint to share or ask me about the feel free!

Great video mate, really interesting and it makes a change, look forward to tomorrow :)

Thanks!

It is an interesting interview tomorrow.

One thing I forgot to mention.

They accept Bitcoin - might be a decoding factor for a lot of people wanting to cash out at the moment!

Done a quick check on what I was planning to buy, and yes they're about £20 cheaper.

Is that including shipping? Also, what product?

Plus they have Silver Eagles in stock and GS.be don't and that's the silver I am after.  :)

They actually have a pretty decent range of products.

GS.be are often cheaper on some of the more less well known coins though.

But in terms of the cheapest bullion coins they are all cheaper when you do a comparison.

Yes, I was impressed with the stock on the site, especially the US Gold.

Well, buying gold from Europe in £ is never going to be as good as in the UK. But it is not very often these kind of coins come available on HGM or Atkinson's so about as good as any price you will find!

They will get snapped up pretty damn quick if they appear on HGM that's for sure.

Hadn't looked at shipping, it was mostly a tube of brits, and a couple of other loose coins.

Might be about the same including shipping, but to be honest as I said in the original post, even if you end up paying £5 more for a tube of brits, you end up with a proper courier and in my opinion much better customer service in the event of an issue.

I certainly had something to do with that this year!

They have no bars :(

The manager was telling me he has to charge full 20% VAT on silver bars ☹️ one of the failings of European silver tax law

Reading their payment terms, of more interest to me at the moment is that they accept Litecoin as well. Given the delays & huge fees in BTC at the moment, i'm looking for more sites that accept LTC.

Hm, a Monsterbox of Philis is ~100€ cheaper than on gs.be but 170€ delivery changes that :(

Would be worth asking them to price match this, I bet he would do it.

But worse case you get a proper shipping provider for €70 more which is not a lot when spending €7500
