I think the BU Five Sovereign Piece is now an annual “tradition” that’s released about halfway through each year. I suspect they will continue to milk the series in 2018 and also release a 2018 Piedfort at the same time. And don’t forget the Strike on the Day either. Milk, milk, milk ?

Arshi posted about 2018 releases, indeed a five and a piedfort were on the list

I've took a punt on just one half sovereign on this one due to the 2,500 mintage , purchased from Chards .

Is that in that presentation? the mintage is 5,100 for the half in total

More like 5,150 mintage.http://www.royalmint.com/shop/s/sv3218

All today’s posts convince me the double sov is the target here.

Yup, or the £5 Sov if the pockets can stretch. 750 is more like it for a gold piece ?

By the time the quintuplet dpl or proof or bu is added to the 750 proof quintuplet numbers, the double sov may very well end up being the smallest mintage of any coin, in terms of size of coin. Not interested in the piedford as the price will be silly and I already have the 2017 first ever sovereign piedfort.

Would have been fantastic for those who bought the 2017 piedfort if it had been a one year only.

I will be waiting for the 2018 £5 BU.

Due to various qc issues I ended up, only, with a 2017 £5 BU and am attracted to that size.

It is an expensive coin, though, and an awkward size to resell so you have to be certain you like it!

I am not sure if the marketing pictures are computer generated or photography of the actual product (especially with all the minor defects, we experience on coins)

After seeing @shawy2510's picture I stand by my statement that horse and rider look deflated

St George looks rather anorexic, the horse seems to suffer from micro encephalopathy and the enormous tail and cape add to the impression.

I am not sure if the 2017 Britannia or the 2018 St George & Dragon is worse...

Looks more to me like it' the cape and tail are making them fall backwards as malnourished as the rider appears.

I think it’s more like we need to get used to the normal issue of proof sovereign after the special design in 2017... But how’s the condition of your coin?
