I was up in Whitby working today and after a fish & chip lunch,  I was flabbergasted to find a 2019 Sovereign at a cracking price in an antique/collectible shop.

And two pocket money eBay pick ups- a Silver Victoria medal and a Silver Proof £5 Vivat Regina!

I love Whitby, specially when the goths are flooding the place, was there for the dracula centenary and everyone was zombie or vamp...was wicked....they got some cracking fish n chip places too.

Yes, nice little town- I'm lucky to live and work very close to it- Best beach is just south, Saltwick Bay you need to be fit to scramble down the cliff but the reward worthwhile and if you spend time looking at the foot of the crumbling cliffs there's a good chance you'll be rewarded with some nice Whitby Jet as a free keepsake.

If anyone is visiting North Yorkshire- the Best Chippy by far is Frusco's Royal Fisheries on Baxtergate in Whitby, best Pork Pies can be found at Glaves Butchers in Brompton, the Best Pint can be found at at The Sun, Westgate Pickering and the best Cafe The Garthway Cafe in Northallerton.  Take afternoon tea at Middleton Tea Parlour and Sunday Lunch at The Fairfax Arms at Gilling East.  And here's a nice place to stay,  and if your on a budget then perhaps try here.

My waistline is testament to my recommendations.

I lived in country durham for 30 years, most of it in Barnard Castle...so spoilt before I even left town..lol..but just over the bridge in Whitby was a nice fish n chip place, drinks never a worry, you'd be on a stomach pump before leaving Barny, places to go were covered by even a walk but Whitby and Scarborough the places to go, scars because it had this nice little casino by the trolleys I could play in all night for £2 a hand blackjack..lol.

Best beach near me now is sanibel and captiva, fish n chips...drive back to Cape cod, booze isn't an option because they don't have pubs like England, socializing in a bar here is like bar flies on the s stuff.

That's one of the smoothest whiskey's out there.

It certainly is. The problem with a smooth whisky is it doesn't last long.

What I intended to be a couple of glasses turned into 2/3 of a bottle.

As my small neodymium magnet didn't show satisfying results for my gold coins, I ordered a bigger one which I received today.

It also helped me to separate my copper pennies from my copper plated steel pennies without going through the date of each coin.

I rarely show my items received but I thought people might be interested in this.

It's exactly the same dimensions as a sovereign, from the front it looks like a sovereign, but obviously the back gives it away, along with it only weighing 4.6g.

I know what it is, (yes I did deliberately buy it ;) ), but would anyone like to hazard a guess to its origin.
