Today I Received.....

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

One of your finest investments? ?

Kicking myself here ?

Yep. Bought a low grade 1817 sov to bookend the event. Also got the 2017  3 coin premier set, sotd plain edge, piedfort, 2 sov dpl etc. Hit that series hard :) and this year’s 2018 3 coin premier privy set and waiting for the Coronation anniversary plain edge sotd. Another good one was the 2016 3 coin Britannia gold set with the error cert and the revised one...nice sleeper that one. Tiny mintage

My Route 66 shield arrived today and will probably go to eBay as there's a slight mark on one of the faces, just by the right hand number six. I was excited about getting this shield as I want to complete the series eventually but I seem to keep getting coins from this seller with slight imperfections. Must be all the mints in the World with this problem. I'll knock them on the head now and look elsewhere.

Nice one ST I got one recently. Still searching for a decent raw see if I can find a potential ms64 or above!

Did you have to pay import fees?

This may well be the nicest coin I own, had to get it to match my BU version.

These will be so sort after imho with a mintage of only 750, had to grab this PF70. This is only available in the 5 coin "long set", which were 3300 RRP and have sold for 5300 on ebay already, only a few for sale atm at 6-8k.

It is a BU coin wrongly marked as PF by NGC. Here is a BU with a PF side by side. You can see the difference very clearly

BU on left real PF is on right see frosting depth difference

Wow, would this be a problem for NGC to resolve if @PansPurse overpaid for the BU?

I don’t think NGC would resolve it. Was it bought as a proof? NGC would change the label to MS70 DPL. It’s in a bulk dealer label so was one of the first graded and over the first few months they mistakenly thought these BU coins were proofs

Pity. It's a mess up like that that has long lasting effects, especially for those who are buying it on the basis that it's a proof. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference without you pointing that out.

It is a masterpiece, though.

I suppose NGC will only take responsibility for the grade and not the designation?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Good spot Numi. Glossed over the photo personally. This forum had a great thread discussing it at the time. And you ended up letting ngc know. How about PCGS ?

Wasn't that the Pistrucci SotD or did I miss another similar thread?

If so I have a PCGS SotD also wrongly designated as a PF with the error cert (which I'm in no rush to have 'fixed'/crossed) but presumably both companies keep an eye on such things/each other and would have made the correction about the same time (?).

Ah you might be right. Been a long weekend :). The BU £5 sovereign is easily identifiable as the Queen’s side is clearly BU quality. Dug out one of numis’ videos. 8 minute mark for the BU
