On Friday received a few lots I purchased at auction plus an eBay purchase. 

The ebay purchase was a 2008 British sovereign. I already have one in for grading at PCGS so will see how that turns out before deciding what to do with the new coin. 

Next is a 1930 Melbourne sovereign. Melbourne was a branch mint up to 1931 so this is the 2nd last year of production. Mintage for this circulation coin was about 77,000, 

Also bought the modern Perth interpretation of the sovereign, this one the 2013 proof.

There are the last two auction lots that arrived on Friday. 

The 2016 £5 proof for the 90th birthday of QE2. According to the COA the maximum mintage was 1,250 coins.

The 1997 silver proof Britania four coun set, 1oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4oz & 1/10oz. Am not really a Britannia collector but could not resist this set, wonderful design.

Finally got some time and a weather day to catch up on a few new receipts. 

Firstly, Thanks to @GrahamDiamond for this 2017 £5 Queen’s Beasts Lion of England BU won from his most recent GAW!! Awesome addition to my keepers!

Also, picked up my smallest gold coin to date from @JBstacker3181...a little beauty 1851 $1 Gold Liberty Head! 

And also received a 2019 Gold Sovereign BU.

Lastly, to round it out, received six 2016 1 oz Silver Britannias with Monkey privy...order as lucky dip 1 oz Silver Britannias!

it's quite straightforward, i've never noticed any difference in the surface of the gold when i've done it, but the heat from the soldering usually leaves a mark on the edge. but as you can't grade an ex jewellery coin anyway..........
