Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

From today i’m proud owner of the 2008 mouse 3 coin proof set. Only 366 sets are minted.

These are my first proof coins, and won’t be my last. 😎

The S1 mouse proof set should be your next one! :P

@Stacknsave Directly from the U.S. Mint.  I have an enrollment for the 5 oz ATB's.  These are the collector versions, not the bullion version, and are initially available directly from the mint.  I am trying to complete a collection of both the bullion and these P versions.  I buy the bullion versions from whichever dealer has them the cheapest at the time.

@mr1030 I can never find dealers with them, certainly not in the uk anyway.

I’ve been collecting US quarters since I was a teenager so with these basically being giant versions there a must have haha.

I take it the collectibles are a more proof finish from the Philadelphia mint?

I will have to keep an eye out if any of the European dealers have them and get a few, don’t think I will ever get a complete set.

@Stacknsave  The Mint calls the surface "vaporblast surface" treatment.  It has a satin like texture to the surface, rather then the shiny raw silver surface you will see on the bullion coins.  Closest thing I can compare it too is the very deepest frosting you might see on some proof coins, except the whole coin is done that way.  The P coins are also limited to 30k mintage although quite a few of the more recent issues have only had half that amount minted.  The bullion coins are minted to demand and can reach as much as 300k if I remember correctly.  The demand for ATB in both bullion and collector versions have declined greatly in the last 4-5 years and the mintage figures reflect that.

Chiemgauer.de & Silberling.de usually have the newer issues at a reasonable price.
