Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Hmm I have read somewhere about a marketing ploy where they do this, if they think a customer is going to be honest they will send more items out, in the hope that they will sell more, the cheaper price is what you would of got anyway for buying them in bulk, wonder how many other members here it has happened to, I know it happened to a mate of mine in a book club, he kept it though for free because he was a bugger.

Well if it happens again I'll wait until I'm contacted but the seller genuinely didn't know until I told him. A previous seller was adamant he never sent me an extra Britannia, even though his handwriting was the same as the original envelope he posted to me.

That's beautiful. I've never heard of ruthenium as an investment metsl before this. Is it worth it?

I really don't know if the coins are worth the investment. The coins base is silver i think the ruthenium is just some decoration. (negligible amount) just like the gold.
But there's a site with rare metals bullions. Most of that metals are used in the industry.

There used to be a law about unsolicited goods arriving by mail @MickB @SILVERFINGER Providing you didn't open the package and no attempt was made to claim it by the sender, it was yours after a certain amount of time. Not sure if you had to inform the sender as it was not ordered in the first place. Might be worth checking out.

Sometimes genuine mistakes do occur, other times, as you say, it may be a marketing ploy.

EJP are on the forum dealer directory and I would be surprised if they tried a marketing ploy like that. The previous two times it happened to me were genuine errors but it would be interesting to hear if it's happened to anyone else on the forum.

The one from EJP had no invoice inside the envelope, same as the one from an ebay seller who used to be on the forum but Yorkshire bullion had a duplicate invoice inside the one they sent me at the time. I can't get over the fact it's happened three times now to me!

@MikeSol, Looks like the incise possibly used to check for counterfeiting back in the nineteenth century. Definitely a great coin and a true example of history.

Could well be. Whatever the story behind it, It's a shame. But for the price of a bullion sovereign I am pleased.
