Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Ah, Sobek is now shipped and in the wild.  I've pre-ordered one of these.  Nice coins

You won't be disappointed

Can't wait, I have Anubis and Cleopatra. I see that your Sobek is matt/antique finished same asmy Anubis, the Cleopatra I have is shiny so I think I'll look out for the matt finish from somewhere so that they match up, but I really like the shiny Cleopatra.  I wonder what image will be next?

I haven't seen a shiny Cleo before mine is the same finish as the others

Sorry, not the best photo's but here's a comparison, matt-shiny (I'm sure shiny isn't acceptable coin-speak! apologies)

Indeed. Our very own numistacker has recently taken care of a set of these.....I have the 1/2 and double now and will be looking for a reasonably priced full and 5 sov as time goes by.....not a cheap bunch of coins to buy at all........once you get one, you feel like you have just bought a house - ooh, got on the ladder type feeling......beautiful design......distinctive, rare and forever desirable, and of course with a plain edge. Distinctive. Yes. That ‘s the right word for this coin. Any experts think sending this in for conservation is worth it.....as there are a couple of spots on the fella’s cheeks.....better pic....second one much higher resolution......thoughts ?

Got to be worth conserving even just to get rid of the copper spots. If it achieves a higher grade then great if it gets the same at least your coin has more eye appeal :)

If it was me I would keep it for a month or 2 as I generally have a look at my coins every few days anyway & if I found the copper spots to be annoying still after that time I would get it conserved. Thats my personal preference
