Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

You always seem to get your coins first even though we both live in Manchester and despatched the same time lol.still no 4th expo panda roosters arrived yet [emoji26]

From when the parcel was handed over to China Post, both the Expo and Lunar Pandas took 8 days to arrive and were from different dealers. Usually delivery time is 7-10 days but I did have one parcel a few weeks ago take almost 3 weeks. Really thought it had gone missing with it taking so long.

There are a couple of scratches so probably refers to those. One on reverse Rim and other on obverse.

Tooled.  it's a strange expression. To me, it's scratched.

I would have expected tooled to mean some form of deliberate alteration eg filling a hole or filing off solder marks etc

Some slightly better pics. This is a type 2 $1. It didn't really work well and most pieces badly minted. In 1856 they replaced the small head of the type 2 with a larger head that lasted till 1889.

So Numi - will you free this from its PCGS tomb and send it into NGC for a new grading? As you know, I am no grading expert - but "tooled" does seem strange. First time I have seen that on a slab label.  Beautiful coin, a real collectors piece!

I might put air into an NGC slabs as the ocgs one does not fit into my NGC case. NGC will probably say scratched details. As you say details or no details it's rare

Having no luck recently. Sent a high relief 2014 elephant back last week as it looked like it had been dragged through a hedge and they say it hasn't arrived yet...

Today these arrived, one has a mark which I don't know if it's a scratch or black biro and the other is royal mint up to there usuaul high standard of no quality control. I honestly don't know why I bother my arse with the RMimageproxy.php?img=&key=ab3e75bab0944c01imageproxy.php?img=&key=ab3e75bab0944c01

What a nuisance. It's going to have to go back though. No 'it's only bullion' BS here.

'I honestly don't know why I bother my arse with the RM',  me too but then I see these5784bccc8654c_2shieldsrev.thumb.JPG.7ad05c386a97b6b54e87fb074a303164.jpg

...and they are instantly forgiven. :P

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.
