Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Nice condition. Am I right in thinking these 1915 coins are all re-strikes?

Yes, they are re-strikes, so no idea how old it actually is.

It felt very light when I first got it out of the packet, I was worried. But it is the correct weight. I suppose the size makes it seem light.

Yes, there are some quite large and thin coins produced around and about. Some of them must bend quite easily and I guess feel quite light in the hand.

Didn't expect this to be sealed.  Packaging in a bit of a state but I'll break it open and put in a capsule.  My OCD tells me that everything must be uniform.

2 Sovereigns, 1891 and 1893 - the 1891 is from Sydney

1875 5 venezolanos from Venezuela - 0.23oz/90%, mintage 35000/69000 depending on the source

2010 Mexican silver and gold set (200 years of independence) with two 2oz silver coins and 1/4 oz gold proof libertad. This set is the same as in the link below, but instead of having the large gold coin, it has the 1/4 oz libertad. I really don´t know if this set I got was originally released this way. At least I´m unable to find any information about it. The case is pretty cool. It has no paperwork with it, and it says 500 sets produced.

Today i received not a coin but the royal mint publication on the gold sovereign history for £25, its about 11.5" x 9" 112 pages and is a very good quality hardback book, i've not read it cover to cover yet, but it details history of gold coinage leading up to the coin we know.

Has some great photos of earlier coins.

Is that Dusty Crophopper in the background?

Would have thought you were a Leadbottom sort of Fella :)

It is indeed.  There is a Leadbottom kicking around somewhere.  Toys get everywhere.

Finally managed to get chance to open today's package which really should have been delivered yesterday.  Conned my dad into waiting in at mine for the delivery rather than missing it and having to wait until Monday to get it.  Officially broke now.

That's a nice haul of Mexican treasure - even without that bicentenario.

Pickups from goldstackers.com.au in Melbourne today. Gold stackers are an award winning bullion outfit in Australia spun out of the silver stackers durum by a bunch of stackers like us who thought they could do better.

1/4od gold monkey

1/2oz silver monkey

1oz silver monkey

Also unboxed a 1/2oz lunar 1 horse.
