According to GS.be, they have got only 30% of their allocation from the mint, so they are sold out because they were not able to assure the globality of all first preorders done a few weeks ago with this low allocation.

Seems also  that the mint has been more greedy  for the dog's price...

There wasn't the possibility. I've been looking every 2 minutes all day

I had 2 in my basket but by the time I had checked out someone else had bought them.

Now I feel guilty.

All seems very shady to me... but then again i suppose the dealers have to make a few quid somewhere

I think they were going to sell for 70 Euros but changed their mind after checking out the competition

Yeah.  Maybe that means that some are being sent over to other dealers in the states?  Would make sense to try to spread them around a bit which would be better for the long term health of the series.  I see that munzdachs is out of both the gold and the silver proof.  Must be a bit of behind the scenes bartering going on I reckon.

New profile pic to support the current thing, because it's current year.

I have to say all of this really makes me laugh.  The hype around this untested (with the exception of the Rooster's success and even that hasn't proven itself over the long-term), average looking coin is driving people mad and the release prices climb and climb.

This is an entirely different type of coin "collecting".  These are investor coins/rounds and I swear a lot of these new offerings smell of a ponzi/pyramid scheme.  Those that get in early and cheap (well, cheaper) will be the one's poised to make a handsome profit.  However, each time the coin changes hands to someone new (especially early on) and the price goes up with each transaction, the less that next person will be able to recover of their initial investment because there's zero guarantee the coin will continue to appreciate over time away from this initial frenzy (unlike a lot of time-tested classic numismatics).  It's like musical chairs...who's left holding the coin when the music/hype stops?

Agreed, but it’s a game a lot of people are willing to play right now.

For sure.  As I'm not collecting this or a few of the other FotM series, it's kinda like watching a soccer match you know is going to be a helluva game but neither team is your favorite so you can just sit back and be entertained by the sport itself.

It's madness like this that reinforces my belief in stacking for investment and collecting for pleasure. By the way this is not collecting, it's rampant speculation - people buying multiples of coins to sell at a higher price 5 minutes later yet stating how nice the coins look

If royal mint lunar dog is going to be 400 quid , that must be best design of the century

MY TOTAL FORUM TRADE FEEDBACK IS 100 AND IT IS 100%
