How come alot of people want these? Are they some what special in any way?

They have the "i" sovereign mint mark and For a modern bullion sovereign, the mintage is probably relatively low, (all though what the actual figure is, is tough to know)

They also seem pretty tough to get hold of here in the UK

UKbullion had them at not too much above spot last time so they seem a good bet

There's no cap on what they can churn out according to both the Mint and UK Bullion last time, it's just getting stock produced/in.

Not even thinking of paying these prices, lovely as these coins are.

If they produced a lot of other years I'm sure we would see them pop up more, but who knows.

Worth it for Sov collectors (I guess, I'm not one of them!)?

Next year's the anniversary of the Indian Mint Sovs (rather than the Sov itself) so I'm guessing there'll be one out then too (unless they are more stupid than I look!).

This looks like a bubble to me, and UK Bullion are cashing in. I don't blame them, but they 'owed me one' after my last purchase, and they haven't got back to me today to make that promise good, so I'm not that impressed with them as of now (though delivery etc was flawless last time I must say - I think folk can buy with confidence from them - I just don't like the price!).

Well let's see what they come up with

I'm particularly sore about this one, as I ordered one of the last batch, paid for it and was then informed that they were damaged and wouldn't be sent.

In fairness, they offered to fulfill the order if they ever got a new batch, but as this would involve them keeping my money with no guarantee of a coin, I asked for a refund.

They now email me to tell me they have stock, but at the increased price.

This example will be the measure of a dealer's integrity and, dare I say it, its future?

We're not talking groceries here. You paid for the coin. Why leave the money with them, gaining interest ad infinitum, on the off chance they'll receive more stock?

They should honour it.

In 2013 the RM charged £850 each for them and sold quite a few. The mintages are not known from 2014 onwards but they have been interesting provided they are well priced. I have a 2017 being graded for my set but I would not pay £350. On the other hand there is lots of eBay interest

A contradicting sentence, so which are you really going for, as you are covering your bases with "probably low" and the actual mintage figure being unknown. I wish people would base their thoughts on facts instead of not having an actual clue, it's more helpful.

Not just digging at you kman, but numistacker came up with the design change for the Libertads again, same as last year, but again there is no factual evidence as yet by numistacker on this one either, until you see hard fact of mintages then there's no point in stating that it's low then not being able to produce, it can give collectors a false sense of a coin being rare or not.

As these coins are minted elsewhere it could be the case that the inhabitants of that country are actually buying them up before they reach anywhere else, it doesn't mean the mintage is low..........

Well does any of you know someone over or bullion dealers there? You could then get the local poop. Just a thought with so many different people on the silver forum.

I'm going to pass on Indian poop.  Mine is bad enough but I can't imagine theirs with all that curry and spices

Unfortunately not going to happen - I contacted them to express my disappointment at not being offered one of the new batch at the same premium as I originally paid and was offerd a £10 discount on the new price - no thanks.

Not for me, I've left this "series" well alone.

At a small premium, maybe, but they didn't get off to a good start in my eyes by trying to charge a very large premium initially.

They're just bullion after all;)

In hindsight we should have arranged a group buy and got them at a quantity discount break.

My guess is that they wont sell as easily at the higher price and the price will be reviewed downwards.

I am still looking for a 2016-i if anyone has a spare at a reasonable price

I wonder if there will be an awful lot more 2017's coming forward for sale as I'd imagine the mint will be working on 2018's now.

The 201st. Anniversary Year of the Modern Sovereign!

Saying that there are still more that three months of the year left to rinse out of the 200th. year. (LOL)

An interesting idea! I'm not sure I'd feel very confident about buying from India but quite a few places sell these:

I'm a 'newbie' to Sovs and these are especially nice, but I feel much the same way. Still, a lovely pick up originally.
