I love gold and silver that's the main reason. I used to do it for various reasons like preserving purchasing power, as an investment, as diversification, as insurance, but now it's just spare money going into it I can be more honest with myself :P

Both parts.

That´s because I only buy old swedish silver/gold coins. I have a few goals I want to reach.

Gold - Want to have 500 swedish crowns. The value of the coins are 5, 10, 20 swedish crowns. At least a few years before I reach that :)

Silver - 1000 swedish crowns, only in 2 swedish crowns. I need 500 of them :) or I got 120 so far. Almost there! :P

Of course I am buying bullions and other bargains I can´t resist when I see them. Something to trade or sell.

I like to look at the coins! And also I like that when you need the money, its fast. I had a child last year and wanted to have extra money in the bank and needed to buy a new car so I sold my gold coins and it was fast and at a good price. Now I'm eager to build up my collection again!

My reason is for a pension supplement but with a granddaughter due anyday now I want to leave her as much as possible if I don't spend it beforehand.

Also it's enjoyable chasing low mintage coins before they sell out. :)

Mostly for the enjoyment, partially as a safeguard incase my employment situation changes, or if life takes (another!) change of direction. Not many hobbies can almost guarantee a large chunk of your money back! :)

At the start I would have said I love to stack silver to preserve my wealth, diversify my assets and act as a safety net against any future failing in the fiat currency, but now I would say its more of a hobby. What could be better though?... a hobby which safeguards you against future collapse in the banking system, has the potential to become a lot more valuable and fulfils that itch we all sometimes have to spend, spend, spend. Only the difference is, its save, save, save!

Well I used to collect rare and expensive single malt whisky. I work for a forex company and on a daily basis see on all the Tv's the spot prices I asked my manager to keep two charts on all the time silver and gold. Now I am addicted I love the metal and designs of the coins and bars!

Hobby, investment, enjoyment !

Started off on the cheapest available path... wondered off it... back to cheapest bullion going with the odd thing that takes my fancy.

I have a stack going for my 4 year old daughter too which is a long ( 20yr ) investment, unless it goes to the moon and ill cash in and start again on a dip / another venture.

I think most of us start out using pms as a savings plan/storage of wealth vehicle and then get our heads turned by all the lovely collectible coins. Once that's happened it's addiction time haha.

Do you consider yourself a stacker or a collector? Or both?
