  1. I hope this video shows. Fingers crossed. Its not showing in my channel yet for some reason. Please let me know if any of you are on youtube or comment below if my link works. But its not uploaded or something has happened properly. Thank you.
  2. I have been very busy over the last few weeks creating lots of 100g Silver Forum Bars! So, for those of you who are new to the forum since last year @ChrisSIlver and I teamed up to create 100g Silver Bars branded with the forum's logo. And I am very proud to announce the first (of many) updates on these bars for 2018. We are creating 150 of these bars (the same mintage as 2017) and you can RESERVE YOUR BARS TODAY! These bars are all hand poured, stamped and finished by myself meaning each and every bar is unique in some way. The weights will vary bar to bar (although none less than 100 grams) and the cooling patterns of the silver will also be unique and different for each one. The allure of hand poured silver is growing stronger month by month and these bars are a brilliant way to start collecting hand poured silver and at the same time supporting the forum and my own business too! There are a lot of different aspects to tell you about so I have split this post up into various sections, hopefully this will cover most of your questions but if there is something I have not covered then please feel free to get in touch or comment on this thread. What are the 100g Bars all about? The 100g Silver Forum Bars have been created as a way to draw the silver forum community together but also as a fund raising and brand awareness raising exercise. Proceeds from the sales of these bars help keep the forum running in the way we have become accustomed to. Premium and Gold Premium memberships go a long way to helping the running of the forum. To help keep the membership prices as low as practical, the 100g silver forum bars proceeds help a lot. Also, it is about raising the brand awareness of the forum and to encourage new people to join the forum and to make standard members think about supporting the forum by upgrading their membership or simply supporting the forum on a one off basis. Schedule, production and delivery I am working towards a completion deadline of the week commencing 3rd September 2018 for these bars to be made, stamped, hallmarked and ready for shipping. They are all individually made and can be quite tricky to pour and make look good at the correct weight. If there are any delays or extensions to this I will let you all know. Design Change There is one design change from the 2017 bars. This year we are using an all in one "100g" stamp. I think this makes the bars look a lot more professional and much tidier (as well as cutting down the amount of stamping I need to do!) Once again we have made the Edinburgh Assay Office Hallmark a feature on these bars siting pride of place on the front. The bars will also have a serial number on the side of the bars. Hallmarking As with all of my Hand Poured Silver products these bars will be Assay Tested and Hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office. I will actually be hand delivering them to the Assay Office for hallmarking which should make a very interesting VLOG and I will be doing an interview with the CEO of the Assay Office! Mintage & Serial Number reservations The mintage for 2018 will be 150 bars. This mintage is set and will not change. We decided not to increase the mintage this year to keep the exclusivity of the bars as appealing as possible. Serial number reservation is probably the biggest question that a lot of you will ask. Now, we are never going to be able to please everyone and to that end we gave very careful consideration to how we would go about serial number reservation. So the following is how we will run things. If you currently own a certain serial number then you will have first refusal at reserving that number for 2018. So, if you bought bar #75 last year then you need to let me know if you want to keep that number. If you do, great it is yours (once you have paid!). If you don't get in touch to let me know before Sunday 26th August then these serial numbers will be opened up to other people. If you do not own a serial number from 2017 but would like to get one for 2018 - there will inevitably be some serial numbers available in due course. I will start a first come first served waiting list for people without a 2017 bar and we can fairly allocate available bars in due course. To join the waiting list all you need to do is comment on this thread or drop me a PM. I hope that all makes sense. In summary, you have until 26th August to reserve your existing serial numbers if you already own them. If you are new, or an existing member who wants additional bars then you need to reply here and I will put you on the first come, first served waiting list. Prices are set as follows Standard or Non member price - £80 per bar Premium member price - £72.50 per bar Gold Premium member price - £65 per bar UK Postage: +£3 via Royal Mail Signed for delivery for just one bar FREE POSTAGE: if you buy more than one bar International Postage: Please ask for an accurate quote - however I will offer free international standard postage (small top up required for tracked) if you order 3 or more bars. Forum membership and pricing As you can see there are some very good savings to be had for upgrading your membership - so take a look at the benefits that are available for premium and gold premium members today! A few notes on pricing These bars are hand poured, hand stamped and polished by me. They take a lot of time and energy and equipment to create. These are premium hand poured silver products, not cheap bullion. They are a way to support me (as a fledgling business), my brand and most importantly, The Silver Forum. As I said earlier, proceeds from the sale of these bars go towards the upkeep and running costs of this forum. This helps keep membership prices as low as possible for premium and gold premium members and ensures that standard members can still use this forum for free. Standard members - The difference in price is as a way for you to support the forum in a one off style payment rather than signing up for membership. But also please feel free to upgrade your membership to take advantage of the discounts available. The price also incorporates the Hallmarking costs, this includes postage of these bars to and from Edinburgh and the application of the hallmark. Payment Information To secure the reservation of your bars and serial numbers you will need to pay me before 26th August 2018 IF YOU MAKE A PAYMENT PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR SILVER FORUM NAME AS A REFERENCE!!!!! You can pay by a number of different methods as follows: PayPal F&F: info@backyardbullion.com Banks Transfer: Account No: 76626253 Sort Code: 51-70-06 Credit or Debit Card: For UK customers I can offer payment via Credit or Debit cards - I will need to phone you to complete the transaction. If you are interested then please let me know in this thread or via PM. Also, I welcome all feedback and any questions you might have about these bars. Thanks for reading and thanks for supporting The Silver Forum!
  3. May I suggest there be two new sections for topics. One that allows members to post about coins that are not necessarily precious metal (there are lots of old copper coins for instance that people collect!), and one section that is for general coin news. General coin news might include new releases, coin series information, NGC or PCGS information, etc.
  4. This may have been done before, but i dont think a poll. Was just looking back over some old stuff and got to thinking about how i have been stacking 4 and half years now. I wonder if i will still be doing it in another 5? Maybe its become put of the routine to put that little bit of money to the side every pay day for buying some silver. Would be interesting just to know what type of mix up we have here on the forum, some people stacking for longer than me would have gone through the 2011 jump, others stacking for longer may have bought silver at under £4-5 spot!!!
  5. Ever think about selling your whole stack? I am not selling my stack, not even selling a single coin but if you were to sell your whole stack, what would you doing with the money? I was thinking about it in work the other day and since then spent a little time on google looking for options and none are appealing to me at all. Stocks are to high, P2P lending and saving accounts are boring, bitcoin is crazy and i dont have much knowledge on anything else. Premium bonds look interesting but would they beat inflation long term? and 50K cap. If i sold my whole stack, i would get around 13K, not a huge amount but not a small amount either. I can really only see myself selling everything to buy a house outright. Right now i could buy a 3 bed council house for 55-60k. So i am a quarter'ish to way there in 3 1/2 years. 15-20 years would be doable i reckon. After you figured out what to do with your money, you have to figure out what to do with your time. How much time do you spend watching youtube videos, on the forum, reading articles, checking charts, searching ebay, updating spreadsheets, planning out orders are anything else silver related. I'd have nothing to do, my abandoned xbox would get much love again. It is more likely i would get bored and start stacking again Morel of the story, silver stacking is the dogs balls and perfect hobby/investment for me.
  6. As the titles asks, Do you ever think to reevaluate your stack? I dont have a huge stack but its decent at around 500 oz with 30 on the way. I have 132 different pieces according to my excel sheet, of course this number grows with every order. This in time will make my exit plan very time consuming. I often think about what if i stuck to buying my core coins, the 12 coins i stack every year religiously and cut out the rest, all the fun coins i buy just cause they look nice are, are new release coins that everyone else is getting them so i have to get some too What if i sold everything i have except for my core 12 and used the money to reevaluate my stack into those 12 coins from years 2015+ I started stacking at the end of 2013, learnt from mistakes in 2014 and got more organised in 2015. I know if i did this, i would roughly gain 25-35 oz's in the process and i would have a clean catalogued stack that would be easier and quicker to exit with. Core 12 - China panda, Congo gorilla, libertad, koala, Kookaburra, Perth lunar 1/2 oz, 1oz & 2oz, Somalian elephant, Uk britannia, Uk lunar series and finally kangaroos added in 2016. Some may think that 12 is still to many but i stack these because everyone knows them, they are easy to resell and i enjoy watching the date runs grow every year. I would make some personal stack with my brit date run, SBSS coins and 1 offs for under the bed, no more than 50 ozs. The master plan is to stack my core 12 for 5 years. Then each year after i will flip the oldest coin and buy that years. So in 2020, i will flip my 2015 coins to buy 2020's, maybe sell 20 to buy back 23-24 and get my stack to become self-funding. Oz's over premiums. Plus i would like to invest else where in a couple of years so my pension is not in 1 pot, still have 30+ years to go so plenty of time. But the self fundng thing is important to me, semi-passive pension fund with a few weeks of selling and buying each year. Nice wee pot off the rader away from the tax mans preying eyes. Second thought, my new avg per oz would make me cry Anyone ever thought of doing something like this are has done it? It seems like a good plan but it maybe boring not getting those 1 offs, the spice to the stack, Any thoughts?
  7. As he title says, this is my 2016 silver stack round up. Woke early today and have been finishing off my 2016 excel sheet and getting 2017's sheet ready. Looking at the numbers, im very happy. I was able to buy alot at the beginning of the year when the price was down and got a few more decent orders in before brixit. I can see that i finished stacking my yearly mint releases in July with the libertad being the last coin release. I am hoping i can finish 2017 a little more early so i can buy some other stuff like bars are bits of gold before new coins are released in Sept. The i am happy is because as far as im aware i only take £30 out of my pay every week for silver but i have stacked 257 oz's with a complete stack avg of £16.20......... go figure My complete avg at the end of 2015 was £16.45 so im winning there. Bargins were plentiful this year for me, on ebay i got a 10oz scottsdale stacker for £130, 2004 kook for £21.30, 98 brit for £21.99 and some good mixed coin job lots, all .999 bullion. Then there was that brittannia offer were a stamp website from Denmark i think, sold brit's for 19 euro each, they had from 1999-2005, then released 06+07 later on. I filled my boots with want i had in my silver account, i think they offered free postage for orders over 140 euro. Alot of people will remember that one, it was a very hot tread. I did my first swap and buys from the forum. Sovereignsteve swapped me 3 brit's that i needed to complete my date run in exchange for 3 brits that were worth more but i only paid 19 euro for so win/win there I got a tube of 2012 brits from a vat free Atkinsons offer which was nice, got those for £1840 each. Got my second NGC coin from silveraddict90, uk lunar sheep for £30 posted and finally my first zombuck from moterbikez for £24 posted. Had a polish guy from work bought a 2008 5oz Libertad after we were talking about silver in work and when he moved back to Poland, he swapped it with me for 8g of herbal tabacco. He basically smoked a 5oz coin in 3 days and i will still have that coin in years. I also added a few SBSS coins this year as i have done all my ordering with Godlsilver.be. They seem to have a wider selection and are cheaper. My ordering this year has been better compared to others. 2013+2014 was mainly small order from ebay, atkinsons and a few uk off shore sites. 2015 was mainly STG and atkinsons and 2016 has been all goldsilver. Of course there are a few other under £25 buys here and there but always goldsilver for all bigger orders. So to sum it all up, i doubled up my stack in oz's, complete stack value is up 156% from 2015, completed my Britannia date run and have enjoyed every minute of it. Its really turned into a hobby investment for me now. On the forum every day, checking for bargins on ebay are for vat free silver from atkinsons every day, then watching videos and other stuff. Its been a good year for my little silver stack. Whats your silver stack year been like?
  8. So as the title says how do you store your stacking information? Pen and paper, phone-tablet apps, excel are something like it spread sheets are dont bother and just wing it. I use a simple excel sheet that holds around 20-25 stats that i feel i need. Took me around 3-4 hours to make and polish off. I update it after every unboxing, dividing the postage cost into the number of coins received and adding that number to each coin as it inputted to give true costing.
