  1. I have been looking at the RCM's website recently and I noticed that they had produced a gold plated silver sovereigns to commemorate the one hundredth year anniversary of 1908 sovereign as it was released last year. Since most of your on the forum are from the United Kingdom I wanted to know what your thoughts are one the coin and what makes 1908 a special year. Here is the link to the coin: P.S. I wish the US mint would allow customer to buy back dated special coins for a while instead of having them "sold out" like some other mints allow. I think the Royal mint does a fantastic job this by allowing the public to buy classic sovereigns with the assurance of obtaining real gold with fantastic designs.
  2. Quidco are doing £35 cashback for next 4 days through WorldRemit when making money transfer with a minimum spend of £50! Slightly more expensive than TransferWise but a great deal considering the £35 cashback!
  3. Hey everyone! I was wondering if we could start a thread where we share some of the best youtube videos we have found about gold and silver money, rather than just videos about your personal coin collections (although those are cool too!) For example, here are some great ones that I have found. I hope you will all share some of your favorites as well (This is episode one of what I think is very interesting and informative series) (this one is made by a company that I have bought some precious metals from - they've been really great to work with )
  4. This is another interesting video on how they made real money (coins) back in the day. My favorite line is around the 4min mark, "the unshakable confidence of the people in the money of their government" ... fast forward to today, well, not so much...
  5. Anybody here use Coinbase to invest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin? I've finally decided that I want to dip my hands in the cryptocurrency game so I've opened a Coinbase account after hearing about this American-based company from various people and places, but I've not been able to verify my payment details as their website doesn't really specify how to do this for UK investors. I would like to invest in Ethereum and Litecoin (not Bitcoin because it's way too expensive for me) but can't because of this payment verification confusion. Any pointers?

    Silver not Fiat

I was wondering if anyone could help me explain hoe buying silver and gold et al is basically pulling money from the system. Lowering the demand for (in my case) dollars or any other fiat currency. I understand it, but I can't explain it. Maybe one of you are better at explaining stuff in words than I am. Some one said that I am not really pulling money out of the system, but just recycling the fiat. And also I am acctually speeding up the velocity of money by trding my dollars for silver. I see it as I traded my dollars for a hard asset that is part of the fractional reserve banking system and silver is not a fiat currency.
