What I am collecting / Investing in.

  1. Hello folks, I am looking to start a world large penny collect mainly of British, Canadian, and old early US pennies or cents with the different royalties, Britannia, and other neat designs. @Numistacker got me interested in the William IV penny with the video he posted. If you guys can help me find those pennies or cent in at least AU58 or higher for not a lot, that would be great.
  2. I'm an designer / illustrator that has been working on a collectable card game. More info will be available later but the general idea behind the series focuses on cyberpunk, japanese yokai folklore and survival related themes. You can check out some random sample of my art related to this series here. Initially the plan was actually to hand drawn card designs onto wood however this has proven fairly time consuming. As an alternative I thought it would be cool to expand my ideas for the series by producing limited runs, mostly on copper blanks, ingots, bars, rounds, etc. Other metals are also possible later however copper seems like a good affordable metal to start out with. Naturally this series will come with a premium focusing on handmade collectable / limited quantity art and I will also livestream the creation and build film / story around each design. I've sourced some of this 1kg blank copper bars that I'm going to try out first. FYI I'll being using a laser toner / Ferric Chloride acid etching method to produce the designs, hopefully I can produce decent quanities and each side of the bar would be fairly bespoke with image, text, serial, year, edition, signature, etc. If you've got any feedback or suggestions it will really help how I approach this series. I'll do some experimentation to see what the collectable likes and hopefully over time I can expand into silver and maybe even gold someday. Also if anyone in the UK is interested in providing some of the materials or even some form of collab then let me know.
  3. Following on from the worst looking coin thread, what do you think are the best looking ones? I'll start, mine are quite random but I've always loved the look of these...
  4. Hi All, I was thinking about the posts I see on this forum, what comes up for sale on eBay, and what is mentioned in auction sites and on coin websites and came to the following conclusion. If it isn't old copper (think US large cents or British Colonial currency), ancient (non-PM roman coins for instance), or a Mint Error (some lovely mules, off center strikes, and planchet errors) then people seem to only want to buy, sell, trade, and talk about "silver & gold". Of course, the whole idea behind the silver forum is for people interested in silver (and gold), but I've noticed that trend in almost every other aspect of coin collecting. I mention this because some of my favorite coins are base metals and, at least in the US, some copper/bronze cents can go for significant amounts of money depending on condition and mintage figures. Is the PM market flooded because there is significant variety? speculators? an ideology? easier to collect these coins? Just trying to share my love of non-PM currency and find out if I'm simply strange or a part of a larger community that is a bit quieter.
  5. Hello Community, I am a very softspoken person by nature so I will keep this short. I am very new to coin & bullion collecting for investment purposes as well as the mental stimulation it offers. To date I have only been any in these types of persuits for a year. My hope and purpose for joining this forum is to be around like minded individuals who have wisdom to share and hopefully a little will trickle into my think skull. I will likely be very quiet for awhile until I get a good understanding on how discussions work here and I gain some proficiency in using the archival forum. I find it good form to navigate the landscape first. My ultimate goal is be an active member through mutual discovery, purchasing, selling and dialogue. Thank you.
  6. Really I am speechless
  7. Scary reality check. No money, or precious metals owned can help you in a crisis. First glimpse of reality. Check out the long list of medications currently low or not available to the UK by googling Medication Shortage UK now. You might be surprised to find your medication may be in the list. But if worried speak to your doctor now.
  8. The PWC Gold, Silver and Copper Report has been produced and makes for interesting reading. The link is: Broadly speaking 47% of participants think Gold prices will rise in 2014, 46% believe they will remain unchanged and 7% forecast a decrease. Average gold prices are predicted at around $1309 (ranging from $1,000 - $1600) rising to $1378 by 2016 53% of participants believe silver prices will rise in 2014, 38% believe they will remain unchanged and 9% forecast a fall. Average 2014 silver price is predicted at $22 (ranging from $15 - $28) and average price for 2015 equates to $23 It has to be borne in mind that these figures can be hugely affected by any 'black swan' events that may or may not occur.
