  1. I'm interested in what the most popular gold proof coins at the moment are. I've already bought this year 2019 proof sovereign is there any popular gold proof coins anyone knows about that have good upside potential?
  2. I'm looking at a great 10oz proof Koala coin on Ebay it's slabbed and Graded NGC PF70 UC, but it has no box and coa. For about the same price i can buy a new one ungraded but with a box and coa from a German coin dealer. Which one would you buy? And why? thanks in advance!
  3. Hi Guys, I have the opportunity to buy a sovereign gold coin, but I have a choice to make. Either the 2019 bullion coin or a Proof Gold Sovereign - Grade B. Also a 2012 Gold Sovereign Diamond Jubilee. All at 10 euros difference in Price. What would the wise in this community advise ?? Thanks a bunch !
  4. Anyone check out (or possibly have) these new medals from Thailand? I think they're beautiful. There are 60g high relief medals in proof silver (mintage 188), Antique Silver (Mintage 68), Gilded Proof (mintage 66), Brass, and Copper (Mintage 228 each). Apparently there are also gilded uni-face medals of both the Elephant and the Temple that have mintages of 55 each, but I have not seen those editions yet. Would love to know everyone's thoughts!
  5. I bought these earlier this year, partly because I loved the design and partly because with the new "technique" the RCM developed to avoid milk spots I wasn't as weary to buy their silver coins, but I haven't seen much about these in this or other coin forums. I also, unless I'm not looking properly, haven't seen these on eBay or coin sites. So, any love for the Great White North Coins this year? Are these just not what forum members are usually interested in? The first coin pictured is a special design of the typical bullion Canadian Maple Leaf coin with a big "30" hugging the traditional Maple Leaf Design. Canada did a similar design on the 25th anniversary in 2013, but I didn't purchase that coin. There isn't anything remarkable about this coin, but I like the way the anniversary number looks around the maple leaf, the privy mark serves a purpose (it is for anti-counterfeit measures) so it doesn't bother me, and the fine radial background on obverse and reverse is appealing IMHO. According to the NGC website there are 126 coins of this type graded MS 70 across the label pedigrees (early release, first release, and standard). Mintage of 250,000 according to the websites I've seen. The second is an incuse design reverse proof Maple Leaf coin. This is an odd coin for the RCM to produce. I would love more info on this if others have it. What I know is it has a mintage of 6,500, and according to the NGC census almost 3000 have been graded by them and 93% of them have been PF 70. I don't think this coin is a part of a series, but not sure, and it seems the FDOI (first day of issue) pedigree is the one to have, but there are 1,000 of those kicking around in PF 70 with NGC holders according to the census data. I like this coin better than the first one because of the simplicity and contrast of the reverse proof as well as the edge lettering. These coins also bring up the question of rarity. The first, has hundreds of thousands minted, but just over a hundred in the top grade, while the latter has a low mintage for a coin, especially a commemorative proof, and yet the majority of them are "perfect". So one is a conditional rarity and one is a mintage rarity, but which one is more desirable???
  6. For a good portion of the summer I stopped buying any coins, gold or silver, proof or bullion, because I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the series that are available. There's the Chinese Panda series, the Chinese Lunar series, the Britannia Series (my personal favorite, but not much love from a lot of collectors nowadays), the Great Britain Lunar series, the Perth Lunar series, the Canadian Lunar series, the Rwandan Lunar series (these are quite lovely, but I didn't set aside cash for them or buy any ūüė•), the Canada Predator series, the Kangaroos, the Kookaburras, the Saltwater Crocodiles, the Birds of Paradise, the Emus, and the Sharks. The Queen's Beasts, the Lion Dollars, and the Bisons. Not to mention the Ukrainian Archangels, the Isle of Man Nobles, the Niue hawksbills, superheroes, and star wars coins. Colorized coins, incuse coins, concave coins, egg shaped coins, coins that are square, coins that have scalloped edges, and privy marks on everything! Just tossing a discussion out to the Forum in general. Does anyone else feel overwhelmed by all of these? Are there forum members that have culled down their collections and eliminated collecting certain series? If so, which series are you avoiding or stopping?
  7. Hi everyone, Phil here, I've been following Numistacker's video for quite a while now, and decided to check out the forum. Recently I chanced upon a 1993 £5 Sovereign Proof for sale at 15% over spot, should I go ahead and pull the trigger?
  8. Hello guys, I'm new to this forum and just started stacking about 6 months ago. I obtained a 2017 Mexico 2 Coin Silver Libertad set. I am trying to pick up every version of the 2017 Libertad. My daughter was born in 2017 and I am looking to gift her my coins when she is older. i posted a video on YouTube. Check it out and let me know what is your opinion on this set and the Libertad series as a whole. thank you
  9. I recently bought the Isle of Man proof and reverse proof set. Very nice coins, really like the reverse proof design, and supposedly as a set only 500 were minted. Anyone else like these or collect them? It seems there is a "Noble" minted annually, but I am having trouble finding out if there are silver ones minted annually or just platinum. I also can't seem to find ones found minted every year, but on off years. Take a look at some lovely photos below!
  10. Hello, my name is Roman, I heard about this forum from Backyard Bullion channel on YouTube, and decided to join. Since childhood I am collecting coins, and also see them as long term investment and saving. First I was collecting different coins, but now I decided on what to concentrate. I enjoy coins with high premium and lower mintages, like Britannia Proof, Beatrix Potter Proof, UK Lunars Proof, Queen's Beasts Proof, Australian Lunars: both BU and Proof. Also love China Panda and some other popular coins. I collect only silver coins (and few gold), and if it's old coins, then I collect bigger denomination coins (no cents, pennies, or similar). From experience I decided, that I want to have less coins, but those, that I love and treasure, that were harder to get and have bigger value. And of course having MS70 gives such a warm and complete feeling :-D Some of my coins:
  11. So I just got an email from the Royal Mint for the 2018 series of Beatrix Potter. Dunno about everyone else but I have placed my order as soon I got the email. I'm guessing in the morning the RM website will be on a count down entry like last time... Will be interesting to see if so, and how long they take to sell out. I know 2017 have not increased in value quite like 2016, but that's probably a given for anything which is the first of something. Still 2018 is limited to only 35,000 and I believe many people will still wish to get their hands on such a beautiful set, hence why I thought I would let you all know now for those who may wish to
  12. The pictures really don't do justice to the amount of detail on these 2oz medals, but they are very beautiful and I was excited to receive them today. Mintage of 200 on the Antiqued and supposedly 328 on the proof. I say supposedly because the mint and the COA say maximum mintage of 328 but mine is numbered in the 390's. Maybe they changed the mintage later, maybe they didn't number them starting at 1, but anyway, I'm still thrilled to have these. Any thoughts from you fine folks as to the mintage/COA discrepancy?

    Impulse Buy

Hello Forum I hope everyone is well and avoiding the January bugs floating around, I have not been so lucky. Anyway I came across this little shiny Silver Piedfort Five Pence Coin with a COA online going for reasonable price (under £20). It Weighs in at a massive 6.5 grams Stirling with a mintage of 20k. Please feel free to comment with your thoughts and also include some of your most recent Impulse buys .
  14. Have any silver forum members purchased or seen one of these in the Early Release Black Core holders? I have the Unicorn of Scotland and Lion of England in these Early Release holders which I believe are special from Modern Coin Mart, but haven't seen the Red Dragon of Wales available. I'm fearful I may have missed the opportunity! If anyone has one for sale I'm interested!
  15. Hi I was just wondering if anyone could give any info on 2007 UK Three Sovereign Proff Coin Collection and Britannia 1992 Gold Proof Coin Set. Mainly looking at price they would sell and and how in demand they are. Thanks for any info given.
  16. Hi everyone I got this 1997 Britannia Silver Proof 20p coin as part of a larger lot in an auction a few years ago. I noticed it had gold gilding and did a bit of home research and discovered that none had been minted. I contacted the Royal Mint who confirmed this stating, " that the gilding must have been applied to the coin after it had left the mint". What do you think? If it is a genuine mule, should I get it slabbed? Any information or advice would be warmly appreciated. Many thanks, Piggybank

    1911 sovereign help

I have a 1911 sovereign that I bought some time ago as a regular bullion sovereign, but is it possible this is actually a 1911 proof (albeit circulated)? Probably wishful thinking on my part, but would like any opinions from the sovereign experts here. Hope this pics are good enough. The coins isn't in the best of shape as you can see. Thanks in advance!
  18. Hello my name is Percy Cateriano, I'm 23 years old and live un Peru (South America). I started collecting coins about 3 and a half years ago and really enjoy doing it. My collection is still pretty small, just about 13 silver coins. I have both a 10 yuan silver Panda (2012) and a 2016 MS-69 Britannia from NGC. I Also have a domestic collection of very beautiful (i think haha) proof silver coins minted from the Peruvian Central Bank as a part of the Iberoamerican Series (1991 - Present) but unfortunately here there are no graduating companies so if someone could help me and give me some advice about how to submit my coins to NGC (I don't wanna become a member of NGC because I have so few coins and I've never done a submition before). Thanks for your help. I'll post some photos of my small collection.
  19. I was wondering if there is any rumors floating around out there about some potential new releases with low mintages coming out soon. If so let’s put them out there. I heard of some Perth Mint Releases coming out. A Dragon and Tiger sober coin and an Emu Silver coin as well. Also heard that there will be a new Saltwater Croc Gold Coin. So hold on to those 2014 Silver Saltwater crocs. They may go up in value here soon.
  20. Whats everyone's thoughts on the 2017 Britannia design? Most of you have probably already talked about it but I'm new to this so will have missed a lot! I got one last week and think it looks good, but then I've never had such a shiny coin before got it in the box as well so probably spent a bit much. I've only got a couple of coins all from the royal mint and think they're nice, what's your opinions on other mints and the quality of them?
  21. Hey! Wanted to know people's view on the Queen's Beast 1oz Silver Proof i..e the Lion & Unicorn are out already. Worth it or not? I know there is also the 2oz which are unlimited but know the 1oz are limited to around 8,500. Thanks!
