  1. Hello fellow SilverForum members. I have been offered a 1913 Canadian sovereign graded MS63 by PCGS for around £2,800. Mintage on these coins was very low and they don't seem to come to market very often. Would really appreciate for any feedback on value, recent sales etc. Coin Struck
  2. Hello fellow SilverForum members. Have just uploaded a short video to YouTube showing three beautiful sovereigns that have just returned from grading by PCGS. Please come & take a look and let me know what you all think. Appreciate is you can subscribe to my new channel. Have a great day. Channel link below. Coin Struck
  3. Hi all -- I've been thinking about the prospect of automated coin grading. Slabbed coins from PCGS and NGC seem overly expensive, and people here have been reporting problems with them (e.g. the recent red spots thread). Would you personally prefer an automated solution, if it was cheaper? By automated, I mean computerized, using machine vision and perhaps various multispectral scans of the coin beyond human vision. I know a bit about machine vision, and an automated solution to coin grading seems inevitable. I think it would be a somewhat easy task for machine vision experts, relative to the kinds of problems they solve currently, like understanding what's in an arbitrary photograph (faces, people, sky, balls, grass, cars, etc.). Coin grading would be a smaller, more delimited problem for them – the software would always know what coin it was grading and what it's supposed to look like at various levels of quality. It wouldn't have to worry about arbitrary objects in an image. I'd be all for it if it cost a couple of dollars. It would also be nice if a service offered a more careful slabbing process, using a nitrogen atmosphere or vacuum sealing.
  4. Hi all, total novice to the group and to be honest forums!! Any help and advise would be welcomed, especially help with getting coins graded as I have been let down on my normal way of submitting.
  5. Does anyone collect the non-precious metal 2 pound coins in the UK? If so, do you use a coin book? The annual or definitive sets released by the Royal Mint? Graded and slabbed versions? I've got a few now - the 2015 reintroduction of the Britannia portrait both in circulated condition and from the definitive coin set slabbed, the WWI aviation definitive coin set slabbed, and am very excited for the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's Modern Prometheus (Frankenstein!) coin this year. I love the Kew Gardens 50 pence and the Sir Isaac Newton of the same denomination, but only have the latter slabbed by NGC. Photos below are mine and of my coins.
  6. Hi, this is my first thread and first coin-related video. I have been lurking on this forum but not really contributing! I have just "completed" my collection of one of each European circulating gold coin in the ~20 Franc size from the pre-WW1 era. I have been inspired by Numistacker. [
  7. Hello Silver Forum, I'm relatively new to the Forum, but have been a long-time viewer of Numistacker's videos and a coin collector for years. Most of my collection consists of raw coins, but I've taken a liking to graded examples. My question to you all would be, how do you go about cracking coins out of slabs (like an ICG or ANACS slab) to prepare for submission to NGC or PCGS? There are videos on YouTube showing people crack NGC slabs or even PCGS, but none on the lesser known third-party-graders. Thank you all!
  8. hi guys, i recently bought an ms69 first strike 2014 panda 1oz coin and paid £25.99 for it. i have a couple of questions 1. how much is this coin worth and will it appreciate and 2 how much would an ms70 version be worth? how much would one be? many thanks
  9. As the title says... What is your opinion on Professional Coin Grading? Have you ever sent any of your coins off to be graded? Is buying pre-graded coins good for an investment perspective? Can anyone recommend the best coin graders in the UK that have used them?
