Paruwka reacted to Pete in In a SHTF situation what plan do you have for getting your stack from your storage space?
I have several friends in the USA that once took all this "prepper" stuff seriously.
They built concrete bunkers under their houses and stocked them with tinned food, water etc etc but armed themselves with so many military weapons, ammunition etc.
This was to ensure survival and the ability to protect their supplies.
It really got out of hand.
Even in Switzerland they built nuclear bunkers with thick iron doors like you find on bank vaults.
Some are now used as laundry rooms or ski rooms theses days.
I've just returned from Switzerland so see these basement / cellar bunkers all the time.
When Covid hit the first time you couldn't find any toilet paper, eggs, rice, pasta or flour on the shelves here.
Maybe the public got confused between Coronavirus and Norovirus - hence the panic buying of toilet paper !
If the SHTF we are all truly f*cked so why worry ??

Paruwka reacted to Pete in In a SHTF situation what plan do you have for getting your stack from your storage space?
SHTF means different things to different people.

Scenario (a) - inflation is out of control so liquidate some of your PM's to purchase essentials to survive.
Scenario (b) - we are all burnt to a crisp and everything has turned to dust and your PMs will have melted, not that you would ever know.
I think (b) is more likely than (a) because we are too fixated on counting the candles on Boris' birthday cake, did they or did they not culture, and setting new rules on gender neutrality.

Governments don’t really care about gold. I have friends in the civil service, relatively highly placed and I can assure you gold is never mentioned.

    Hi All
I would be interested in what people think of the Royal Mint packaging for 2022 Sovereigns (and similar coins).
Personally, I am not a fan of the shiny (presumably) veneered boxes.  They remind me of high gloss car veneers in the 80’s and 90’s.  They are also magnet for scratches and I suspect chipping and  delaminating in time.
My preference (by far) would be an English Oak / Ash box, with no laquer, and much in the vein of those produced by @Alun which are in my opinion far superior.
Am I alone on disliking the RM boxes?

Paruwka reacted to Jvw in Is 100oz Silver Enough?
First of all, Welcome to stacking! And i agree with the people above. I can't answer your question. I do recognize your method in mine though. I had no idea what I was doing when I started stacking. I bought silver and sold some on highs, then realizing I had to buy more silver with my winnings when the price was even higher, and eventually (after making some profit) i ended up with less silver in weight for the same price I started with. 🤔
So i do have a couple questions for you.
1: What will you do with the money you now save each month if you won't buy any more silver? (Invest? let the bank hold it? spend it on life?)
2: How long will you sit back, and what will you be waiting for? (Will you hold it forever or sell at a certain point?)

In other words, I think you need a strategy. And your strategy will answer your question.

Paruwka reacted to Bars in At what point does “silver” become “too much silver”?
It's a lot of capital tied up in one asset. If you had five 1kg bars on the other hand, people would be willing to spend their cash as its a lot more affordable. Also, should the price rise, you'd want to sell little bits here and there and not the whole lot. It's the same reason why I stop myself from buying a 100oz, 1kg is my max. Its a nice size, affordable and more liquid.

it's July  15, 2021 (spot is currently $2,283 CAD).  Found amazing gold prices today (toronto area).  The dealer is called Bullion Centre.  www.bullioncenter.ca
No joke,  my jaw hit the ground...they have 1 oz  Gold RCM, Perth Mint, RAM coins available at 3% over spot.   I called and picked up in-store without a hitch.
also 10 oz Silver RCM bars for $390 (current spot $33.15 CAD), again,  not joking.  I actually considered not sharing this newly found honey hole but it's for the greater good,  ha.

Paruwka reacted to Tortoise in So you have silver….sell or keep?
I am a relatively new gold stacker.  I think the premium on silver is just too high for it to be sensible investment for me.
Though if you did buy when prices were cheaper, I can see your logic in holding what you already have.
That is not to say that I would never buy silver, but it would be a something I really liked and no thing else.

Paruwka reacted to Bruce06 in Opinion on high-premium modern collectible, proof & High relief Pop culture silver coins. Worth collecting?
If it's just a hobby and not causing any financial difficulties, I think it's fine.  I always think if I am not spending on silver bullion or proof coins, I will also spend it or lose it elsewhere 😅😅.  At least, I have some physical things on hand.
I like Royal Mint QB, Britannia, Perth Swan, Australian Dolphin....few proof few bullion.  When I buy a silver proof, I do not have any plan of selling it, as I know the sky high premium kill everything.  If you know your position, I think it'll be fine.

Paruwka reacted to sixgun in Who actually thinks the price of silver will rise?
Of course the price of silver will rise. There is inflation in the system. It cannot do anything else. The question is not whether the price will rise - that is 100% certain. The question is, will the value rise?

This has already been said but I will say it again - If the conditions arrive in this reality that government are coming to your address for your £2500 of gold that will be the least of your problems.... because you will have also lost your boat in an unfortunate accident. Such a sad story.
Honestly there isn't an issue here. Buy the gold with ID, pay with debit card whatever, get it delivered - once your currency is parted for the gold, the gold is 'gone' from the system. No one knows what you did with it, there are no digital records of where you hid/spent/melted your gold. You could have used it to pay for goods and services, settled gambling debts, buried it and forgotten where you put it, etc. This is a non issue. A total non issue. Just buy your gold like everyone else. And if/when the time comes that they confiscate it.... annnnd its gone!
