There is a seller on ebay selling lots of 100 or so coins of junk in a tin, and he places Chinese copies of american $20 and 5 Sovs on top and says they are 'facsimilie' in the listing and people still are paying £70-£100 sometimes.
I used to love junk hunting on Ebay but it's slim picking the last 2-3 years to be honest.

I don't think you can make many gains short term flipping just with bullion imho (without having large volume and capital to begin with anyway)
Can only go off of my experience is that numismatic plays are the way to increase a stack via flipping. One example was buying the SoTD plain edge Sovereign for £550, last I saw was selling for close to £1k, another was buying queens beasts and holding.
My only advice and it is only my personal opinion - avoid proof silver at all costs.  The odds your premium piece of silver doesn't become a milky bullion piece in a years time are 50/50

I was working very late and feeling sorry for myself last week when @metallica73 posted a link to this sovereign in the deal section (yes, I have thanked him!). I don't know much about sovereigns but took a punt and bought it. The original pics were a bit blurry so I wasn't sure if I'd be happy with its condition but honestly, when it arrived my jaw dropped. By far the best condition old coin I have so thanks to him again! For the record, that scratch behind her head I don't think is in the metal, but just taken surface dirt off (at least, that's how it looks to me).

Rare date, and seems in decent condition.  £525 is a decent price I would think for year

Anything silver (pre-47) on that list is melt value unless in higher grades. The 1889 Crown is £20-25 if average circulated.
The only coin I can see that potentially has some value is the 1869 Penny.
Prices realised on Ebay are between £10 for slicks with just the date showing, £40-50 with britannia outline visible, and if in better condition a lot lot more than that. It's probably the only coin worth throwing on here with a photo so I can give you a better idea.

Here's the ultimate clue I'm afraid, especially on bullion... most people knew it was fake, hence low bidding.
I've seen a fair few of these type auctions and even most ( not all) the people bidding know its fake and they are bidding to sell on to another unsuspecting buyer😖
It's not nice to loose any amount of money 😕 it may not feel like it right now,but thank you're lucky stars it was not £1600, and this proves the old adage "if its too good to be true"
Honestly if you went to the police and told them..you thought it was genuine at £300 an oz,I'm not sure how they would react.

If you're dropping £1500 on a 1oz gold, adding 75p to make it look nice and protect  is a no brainer for me
You can also gets these in different mm sizes so a sovereign can sit alongside a Krugerrand
