In my case my tragic boating accident has been documented on the forum several times over several years. The thing is it never really happened. But it doesn't end there. i have been a total fake.
It has also been documented on numerous occasions i am a lunatic and i am. i will have to come clean now - in my state of madness i have lived a fantasy life imagining the Earth was flat, Elvis lives on the dark side of the Moon and worst of all i have a stash of precious metal coins and bars. i confess i was a fantasist. i am ashamed of myself and offer my most profound apologies to the membership.

Small brown penny sized coins (aka older sovereigns) look like pennies in airport X-ray scanner trays, in purses and pockets - no-one is interested in pennies so no questions are ever asked.
All that glisters is not gold - and all gold does not glister but it is still gold. Give it time and you will come to realise - gold is gold and that is what matters.

Bought mainly from Atkinsons and HGM.
Turned up at Atkinsons looking my normal 'extreme-casual' self; pulled 20oz out of my scruffy shorts pocket and flogged the lot.
No issue with Atkinsons as they checked my ID and I also have an account with them; no issue with the banks or HMRC.
Just about broke even on the lot but I hadn't held it for too long, just stacked it over 18 months or so.

You accidentally wrote it and then both agreed on it, and then even after that you’ve made the payment at the final agreed price of £450?
Doesn’t really read like it was an accident, it reads like you’ve changed your mind after the fact.
Dont go back on a deal that has been made and finalised. Reputation is everything on here, honour the deal you’ve made.

You’ll never see a poor man get Rich of gold
either, which is the point dear @dicker is making to the OP.

Those with a large gold holding tend to have made money elsewhere and decide to put a percentage into gold as a form of wealth preservation. Wealth preservation and “getting rich” are not remotely the same thing.
To try and offer my opinion to @muneeb i would say buy Sovereigns. Lots and lots of info on this forum about why that’s a good move if you search some previous posts. Gold goes up and down for many reasons you just get more used to it over time.

I dont give investment advice other than:
    (1) You wont get rich buying gold / silver
    (2) Invest regularly - look up pound / dollar cost averaging

The OP didn't mention, or ask anything about Sovereigns.   The title of his topic is 'Why the different prices for 'ordinary' Britannias?'

    But you did:

And I was correcting your response, as with the upmost of respect, my opinion is that I don't think your initial statement is an accurate reflection of why 2017 Britannia Gold 1oz Bu coins command a higher premium.

I often buy antique wedding bands, I have a few 22ct gold rings, all bought at auction and most were only 4-6% over spot.
I saw them as a bargain and to me, like @Shep said. Gold is gold.
I recently bought one, an antique 22ct band at auction for 2% under spot. I love the gold colour of these old 22ct rings, that nice ‘yellow’ gold.

This might be slightly left field but just a suggestion!
For some reason there's a massive stigma with some people about second hand rings and to be honest I don't really understand it, the gold that goes into new rings has probably been reclaimed from other melted down bits of jewelry.
    A quick anecdote:
When I was getting married in 2019 I told my now wife that I wasn't going to buy a new ring and was going to get mine second hand (the inner stacker was talking) - she hated the idea. She came out with some nonsense about how its bad luck or whatever else and said that she wanted a new one. No problem I said! You only get married once I thought so I agreed to buy hers new and I bought it online from one of the mainstream dealers (her choice). Some of these dealers you will note use terms like "super heavy" & "extra heavy" to describe the weight of the rings rather than actual grams.
The look on her face when it arrived was priceless. This was the smallest most pathetic excuse of a ring you had ever seen, I remember I weighed it and it was 1.6g which worked out at an extortionate premium for the price paid - "extra heavy" indeed! Needless to say the ring got returned, we shopped around and also found her a nice weighty 18ct gold ring at a very reasonable premium over the actual gold value. They arrived nicely polished by the independent jeweler and you couldn't even tell they were secondhand. Also (touch wood) having second hand rings hasn't brought us any bad luck yet either.
Admittedly I appreciate this wont be for everyone but search the web and most independent jewelers have a section for preowned wedding rings. Worth a browse if nothing else.

    Agreed.
Only the full and half for me, as usual.
I could be tempted by a SOTD or Piedfort but the other sizes and sets don't interest me.
I like my coins individually boxed.
You have to consider though that this release could be the last for our monarch so it really is special.

A new addition to the family, a Whippet puppy named Mink, much to the dismay of our existing Whippet, Fox who is taking his time to adjust.
Anyway, I’ve taken time off work this week to help out settling in the new addition and it’s given me time to snap a photo or two.
Today arrived the 10 coin Silver 1/4oz Reverse Frosted Beasts set.  After regretfully flipping all my Gold and Silver Beasts over the last several years, this set is a lovely momento of the series.
The latter two photos depict the meeting of the clan- the tiny Beasts alongside the Silver Proof 5oz, 2oz & 1oz Completer’s and the Proof 1oz Gold.

All you Beast fans, enjoy! 😉

I think I would go with 14,285 bullion sovereigns from the days I used to sell them at £4 each, £37.10s per ten, £365 per hundred, and £3,500 per thousand. that was between 1964 and 1966.
50000 3.5 14285.71 So, it might even have 14,286 if I round up like a true mathematician.
Disclosure: I used to make about 2/- each on them (10p).

I may stand corrected, as am sometimes wrong, but this figure may be based on an EF or finer “grade”…definitely not trying to take away from the rarity of the variety. What I truly appreciate is the history and story of the Ansell variety.

Anyone who thinks inflation is less than 2% must be living in their mother's basement.
If you own/rent a house, pay the utilities, run a car (or two) and put enough food on the table for a family of four, then you know inflation is hovering around 10%.

Whatever happened to keeping bullion in a thick wooden chest and frequently opening it to pick up handfuls and allowing the stuff to run through your fingers? Can't slap a bloody proof coin onto a vomit stained and knife damaged bar top to lure the busty barmaid over can you?
"Alright love? Send us over a round of dark rum and giveus a kiss eh? 'Ere, got this to pay...OH NO! A HAIRLINE SCRATCH ON THE CAMEO FROSTING! AYEEEEEEEEEEE!".
Aaaaaanyway, if you don't want it @tallthinkev but are not in a rush for payment why don't you stick it up in the trade section for your ballpark asking price and leave the hook dangle. It may take a while but a proof collector who's interested in more than just the usual fare like Queen's Beastly Berks and Britannia's New Pose (has she a shield? A lion? Ooooooo) may well lurk among us and be happy to trade. Crowns are popular, the Royal Munters wouldn't make them otherwise!

*Not to disparage those who collect proofs, they are very pretty and people like what they like. Just 'avin' a larrrf. I have proofs dotted here and there, but I buy them when I spot a bargain...

Sorry about the cropped photos of it, it is at the extremes of my lens and it was that or a blurry photo. Important coins from a short and interesting part of British history

Unpopular opinion incoming: Stay firmly away from silver. You’ll hold it for years and unless something magical happens you’ll possibly break even if you come to sell it.
If you’re purely wanting to preserve your wealth or as you say make an “investment” stick to low premium gold.
(All IMHO and apologies to silver stackers)
