In similar vein it was the first time I paid over a fiver for a sandwich the other day?
Did the sandwich change?
Did I enjoy it ? Yes
was it worth a fiver ? Negotiable
did the price of ham or bread go up relevant to the quality of the sandwich?
OR was it the unit of exchange in between that changed that made a simple sandwich 🥪 over a fiver ?

There's no past, there's no future.
There's only ever now o'clock
There's still gold to buy and gold to sell. Margin to be made, deals to be done.
The gold is still gold and didn't change when sovs were £200 the medium of exchange in between is what has changed
If you see multi trillion debts across every western countries being paid off or getting smaller any time soon sell your shiny.
If not, HODL your gold and enjoy the scenery along the gold journey as we keep moving to higher ground and to better golden views

Roy reacted to Bratnia in Buying gold as the price increases
Buy equal amounts of stock and gold, average-in over time. When you look back some will have bought at relative highs, and lows. Averages out OK. When you retire and average-out over time that also will work out OK. Time smooths the high and lows out. It may be a case of gold does poorly, in which case stocks will likely do very well. Or perhaps stocks do poorly/gold does well. If 50 gold value halves to 25, when 50 stock value doubles to 100, you'll be better placed than another who solely invested in the worst performing asset. Historically for all ten year periods stocks total returns were the better performing asset in 60% of cases, gold bettered stocks in 40% of cases. Some might prefer 60/40 stock/gold target weightings however the differences in rewards between that and 50/50 were small.

Roy reacted to Dalriada83 in Buying gold as the price increases
I know I shouldn't but I've been watching Youtube again and if all of these American demagogues forecasting the destruction of fiat currency turn out to be right, how are we going to value Gold and Silver? I would like to announce the formation of the Dalriada Precious Metal Exchange: opening at 20 Turnips for 1 ozt fine Silver and a Friesian cow for 1 ozt fine gold. Of course there will have to be side markets for equivalence, eg. 2 Swedes to the Turnip; 2 Longhorn to the Friesian etc. Everybody welcome - fees apply. According to these American chaps I could be trading by next week. Anybody in? For a limited time only you can join the Exchange for the introductory offer of just one 1 ozt Gold Britannia. This offer comes with a 30 day cooling off period to let you try and find me. Your statutory rights are not affected . . . in Bolivia. Join now to avoid the Christmas rush!

Roy reacted to Orpster in Gillick Sovereigns, 1957 (£428) & 1959 (£423) Plus Post
Couple of Gillicks to go, the two best years and very decent examples
1957 - The first mass produced coin for QEII and a unique design with 168 grains to the milled edge and not the usual 108 grains SOLD
1959 - The lowest mintage of the bullion Gillick sovereigns and the only other year, along with the 1957, not rated common
BT or PPF&F, UK Mainland or NI only. Despatch from Monday at buyers convenience.

Sorry, I don't have one for sale, but you asked for prices! 😊

These will always command a premium, and to think they were disliked when new....too 'cartoony'?
Personally, love the design 👍

To give a ballpark figure you might expect to get back from members, I paid spot + £40 inc postage for a very nice bullion coin last year from a forum member. I might have paid over so I won’t name the seller as he might get too much kudos😀.
Rather than asking for offers try a little under this and see if anyone replies. Forum members are most likely reluctant to seem opportunistic and blurt out £450. If not…

Roy reacted to Spyder in 2005 full gold sovereign
I was going to start you off, but saw James has already offered a price. I have three and will not be able to get to them until next Wednesday. One is in card holder( Not for sale) the other two I think, I know at least one is in Royal Mint sealed plastic envelope type thingy. I will do the sealed untouched one for £450 posted. A little extra, but will be in like new condition. You now have three choices.
It will be like the photo below, but as a full sovereign. Below is a half. The scratches are to the plastic and not coin
