@James32 @mike1097 You are absolutely correct; that was a mistake on our part. Thank you for pointing it out. The memorial sovereign was the first bullion sovereign to feature the uncrowned portrait of King Charles III.

@mike1097 Thank you for inquiry about the gold Charles Memorial sovereigns.
    1) The coins being Memorial indeed add a unique historical significance to them, as they are the first sovereigns to feature the King Charles III crowned portrait by Martin Jennings. While this portrait doesn't directly affect the intrinsic metal value of the sovereigns, it can attract collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate coins with such distinct characteristics.
    2) Regarding the cost per coin, it is currently priced at around £378 plus postage at the time of writing this response.
    Best Regards,

If you are interested in premium per gram, then it is noteworthy that a sovereign is supposed to contain 7.3217584 grams of pure gold. That's a tad less than quarter of an ounce (7.7758692 gr)

It does not have every dealer or every deal so likely also worth following the Gold Deals thread

Then there's the boredom factor you've yet to come across. One day it's a love of all things sovereign and the next, because thats how the brain works, it'll make you buy something of lesser value for more money just because it fancies a change. Then you're stuck with a load of gold=backs or thimble sized 1/10ths with premiums maxed out that you'll never recover less you live to be a 100. Then there's silver, looks pretty, has VAT, never makes a penny yet has a spell of compelling people to buy it 'just in case'
TBH? Buy anything you like because it's all lovely. And never look down your nose at 1 gram bars because when the pennies run dry thats when the gold fever is at its highest and a 1 gram bar can mean the difference between sat in a corner shaking in withdrawal or sat watching telly looking forward to the post coming in the morning.
All of the above isn't worth a squeaky fart and mostly said in jest 😝

    Don't you fekin dare lol 😆 😂
On here is supremely cheaper, or grab a memorial sovereign from chards.co.uk (£385+post) basically you want to be around the £390 + post or less currently on generic sovereigns.

This post likely needs moved out of the buy/sell section 😆
To try and answer your question though,
It's up to you which you prefer, sovereigns (when priced right) are unequivocally the best seller. Just make sure you understand the premium you're paying at any given time.
Sovereigns are more resistant to wear and tear being 22ct, at least the older ones are ( Machin/Gillicks backwards etc) you have to look at .999 gold carefully or it will scratch.
Let's take an average price of both right now to gauge the premium/value in each.
Full sovereign £385 for a memorial on Chards ÷ 7.32g of AGW =£52.59 per gram ( excluding post of course, which should always be factored in)
1/4oz britannia £435ish on here ÷ 7.775g of AGW = £55.94 per gram. As you can see, the sovereign comes out on top substantially.
I wouldn't be worried about focusing on what's better, I'd be recommending to buy both if the premium is fair.

    Hello all,
would someone be able to help me understand which coin is better/pros and cons. I’ve been reading and watching videos in what is best to invest in gold sovereign versus gold to Brits.

They say you get more gold for your money with the Brits, and sovereigns aren’t 999.9
Other than sovereigns being cheaper to get, historical value and easy to sell, why would I go for a sovereign other than a Brit which has more gold?

    thank you!

Neither is better,  a mix of both silver and gold is better, i'm sure most on here have a mix of metals.. some days brits are easier to 'cash in' then sovs and some days the other way round.. -that is if your holding and cashing in as and when you need the money for stuff

    Hola
    - Sovs are more liquid and recognised around the world
    - Sovs are more durable (not .999 as Brits are) so more resistant to “wear”
    - Lots of people enjoy collecting Sovs which are older and have more numismatic appeal
    - Depending on where you buy Sovs may actually be a cheaper buy then Brits
    Best
