I share your feelings about the government and I can not stand the amount of control the banks have but you have wake up and understand once you have the gold you will need to convert it back into controlled fiat unless you are paying for goods in PM's.
Bricks and mortar PM dealers have to comply with HMRC if they don't is game over for them, surely you must know this?  If you don't want to use a business that complies with the law then that is your prerogative,  you must realise even the doors that allow peer to peer trading can be very easily closed with a press of a button, even if you trade in cash banks now are limiting how much you can pay in per year the post office (the first of many) will only allow £2000 per month and 10k over a year.   Most business will not  take large amounts of cash.........some won't take any amount of cash.
You might want a list of dealer who have to comply with the HMRC , maybe look at it from the other side dealers can not have customers who don't comply?
Maybe having proof you have dealt with a compliant HMRC PM dealer may become the only way you can liquidate your PMs in the future once all the other avenues have been closed?    You could rock up to one of those dealers you don't like at some point in the future as they are your last hope of liquidating your stack and they might not even be able to deal with you as theres no provenance  you have bought your PM's  legitimately, not saying this is a the case but it would not be hard for the government, banks and HMRC to enforce.
As physical and analog as PM's are do not be fooled into thinking they are not 100% controlled by the digital system of compliancy......once cash as gone and we have a CBDC all the doors will be closed.

As gold is pegged to the dollar I watch the dollar price. I am short term negative, and I see it down in the 1500-1600 region.
Long term it rises, simple. If you're buying to hold 10 years + then buy. Me, I'm waiting to catch a falling dagger to move a liquidated chunk of my pension in to.
And yes, the spelks from the fence are stuck in my bum!

2022 Australian One Kilo Silver Kookaburra Bullion Coin by Perth Mint - Photos
I can't remember whether I have seen any of these before.
Perth Mint are usually very early with their new coin releases, so expected to see 2023 dated coins, and was surprised to discover these 2022 dated ones arriving so late in the year.
Like most mints, Perth have experienced big demand, and production delays, which might explain things, but without further ado:

Single Kookaburra on reverse, above, and:

Queen Elizabeth II still looking good, above.
    Especially for @DrDave:

A "moody" angled perspective shot, just to show he doesn't own the monopoly on them!

Yes, there were these two girls, freezing cold on Blackpool Promenade. It was their own fault, as they weren't wearing much in the way of warm clothing.
I realised the only decent thing I could do was to give them a lift in my nice warm car...
Oh, sorry, I forgot this was about coins and precious metals!

QStack reacted to LawrenceChard in 2023 Sovereign design - What say you?
As it will already be a new design because of Charles' portrait and titles, it would probably be best to retain something familiar and traditional for the reverse.
If the RM wish to vary anything, it could be a new version of St. George and the Dragon. Perhaps they could be hugging each other, or both hugging a tree.
Of course, they could revert to using yellow gold instead of copper colour, but I fear that Anne Jessop is not listening. Perhaps we should send her a hearing aid?

What I have learned over many years of investing is there is no simple formula and absolutely no guarantees of growth or wealth preservation regardless of who you ask, what you read or which financial adviser you pay fees to for advice. None of them are time travellers or have crystal balls and for every great investment there could very well be a poor investment.
    I've seen them all.
    So - what can I suggest ?
All depends on your age, your assets, guaranteed income, your debts ( if any ), job security ( if still working ) and finally risk of loss.
Personally if you have money to invest the priorities are pension contributions, growth and income equity funds, 12 months of expenses retained in cash, then and only then consider PMs. Gold is bought and sold on small margins so if you have say £20k to invest buy £15k of gold. Silver is seen as having more upside potential but to recover your costs you will need to sell privately because of the VAT. Buy £5k of silver bullion coins wherever you see the best deals - usually on this site.
If you have a serious amount of money to invest then maybe buy a property to hold ( holiday home ) or rent.

The best time to buy is when you can afford it. TBH a £20-£30 swing either way shouldnt make too much of a difference if you're holding for the long term and not going to need to sell in a few months.
