Tingles got a reaction from *tada* in Gold & VAT after BREXIT
    I'm old.
In 1978 I joined The Bank of England and as part of our first week induction we were taken to the gold vaults as well as the fiat printing works in Essex.
I was told that even The Queen had to keep her personal gold in the vaults, as I was holding a large gold ingot weighed about 30 pounds????
I 'think' gold was allowed again by the first Thatcher government in the late 70's - early 80s.

From what I’ve observed and discussed with family and friends.  Very few think it’s a ‘big thing’ and just want it finalised.  It has certainly shown the political classes in a very bad light.  I’ve consulted to some central government departments and I know how inept / inefficient they can be.  Life will go on, contrary to what the media says. I don’t think the UK will change very much.  We’ve been around over a thousand years and I’m not expecting more than a few riots until it rains - that usually stops any uprising.  Our favourite drink is tea, we don’t do revolution, the public is well controlled and more interested in celebrity gossip, a new iPhone and the royal family.

Diversification in this area is not an option for me.  She is an excellent shot (clay pigeon shooting) and she pointed out that I was a large, slow-moving target.  She held up a clay and said she's more used to 'powdering' these so she just couldn't miss - even if I zigzagged.  I took the warning.

I personally invest in 4 sectors... a pension, precious metals, recently cryptos and a rich widow.
The latter has been most pleasurable and rewarding.
    EDIT: and CGT exempt!

Travelling for two months, to the Americas starting next week to search for a new home.  We've been planning for a couple of years - not especially related to Brexit but sick of the EU and the UK anyway.
Quite fancy Cuenca, Ecuador or Medellin, Colombia - we're also looking at some of the colonial towns of San Miguel de Allende, Leon, Guanajuato and Cuernavaca.
Wanting to lead a nomadic lifestyle.  We've been blessed with not having children, in good health and marrying a financially independent woman. Will finally make the move in 18 months time.  We're both keen artists and want to capture some of the sights.

I’m starting to see that the scales have shifted.  “Remaining is better than this deal”.  I suspect this was plan b - if the public still wanted Brexit after all the FUD.

I agree very much here. I think it is pretty disappointing to see the many ways people who voted leave have been labelled. In many ways I've found the opposite to be true. Of the people I am close enough with to have discussed how we all voted I've found those that were more interested in politics and the greater world voted leave where as those who weren't and maybe never even usually voted opted for remain. I am a fairly well educated left leaning immigrant who technically falls under the date range for being a millennial yet I voted leave. It is really insulting constantly hearing how only old, far right, bigoted, unintelligent people voted leave especially when you've taken enough time to really look in to the issues and weigh up what is in the countries best interest long term

The thing that is staggering is how many of my academic friends tell me that only stupid / thick people would vote Brexit.
The attitude is astounding - I for one try and understand others view points but it seems a lot of people are very polarised.

I've worked as a Director in export for 25yr. If anyone believes the project fear Bull that a No Deal is bad for the UK needs to wake up and smell the roses.
Honestly guys, just step back and think about it logically.......... we already deal with the US, China, India and the rest or the world on WTO rules with no issues at all. So why is it we are so Shi*& scared of doing the same with the EU?
Everone needs to wake up to the truth, the UK exports to Europe have been declining by 6% year on year over the last 5 years, despite us have no trade barriers. Yet the US who work on WTO rules have been increasing sales to Europe for the last 5 years.
No Deal, = more UK exports .........Bring it on

The European Mint will give you free Monster Box(s) for the 10 oz Silver coins they sell provided buying 12 or more at one time (but you need to call them/email them to confirm before placing an order.
BYB kindly negotiated discount code for Silver Forum Members and European Mint will price match other bullion dealers see the following thread.
For reference the monster boxes that I have both come from the European Mint. If you remove the protective foam at the bottom of the Monster Box you can fit 27 10 oz Silver coins and even a tube of 1oz 2018 Silver Dragon Perth Mint bars. These Monster Boxes not the same regular Royal Mint Monster Boxes for 500 Britannia or 200 Queens Beasts 2 oz Silver coins.

I was having this conversation with a friend the other night. I agree entirely. I first thought this a few weeks ago when the movement for a "peoples vote" really started to ramp up just when it was looking like there wasn't going to be any kind of deal. I wondered how much that fear was feeding the movement and just how deliberate that was.
