AuricGoldfinger got a reaction from stefffana in Gold Monitoring Thread £ GBP only
I’ve noticed atkinsons are buying under spot. Not long ago they were offering 1% over spot - i know cause i sold some!
i guess they need to buy below spot due to the premiums being low at the moment. I think they will have a lot of stock from people taking profits.
premiums are an interesting thing to keep an eye on as it’s suprising how much of a difference there can be during different periods

I thought gold would drop as people closed out positions to take profit as they close the March books (traders, banks). However the opposite seems to be true.
At a macro level, I personally have seen “easy money” as a problem since the early 2000’s when a colleague got a balance transfer of 10k for almost zero interest. Things only got worse during the financial crash and with politicians unable to stop spending and printing money. Nothing goes up or down in a straight line but I think gold is (in its own time) adjusting to major issues with paper currencies and economies.
It’s hard to predict price movements day to day and week to week but long term trends when governments are debasing paper year on year is easier.

…..which will be getting way too much for a joe so attention woukd start to return to silver as a monetary metal which it is not 99% of the time. It’s not called the devil’s metal for nothing…99% of the time it goes nowhere and breaks amateurs. 1% it goes nutso….and sell.

Like John Lennon once said, '' Would the people in the cheaper seats (silver) clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewellery

Just been looking at the beginning of this topic by @Paul when gold was between £700 & £800! I joined in 2018 when an ounce was still below £1000, and a good time to fill your boots.
Next month is the 10th anniversary of TSF - Has anything been planned? Perhaps free silver rounds for long serving members?😁 Ha, Ha. This all started by monitoring Silver, not Gold!
When I started in 1997 Sovereigns were £45/50 and a 1oz for about £200, so the increase has been about x8.
I know that inflation has eaten away at the spending power of any profit made, but it’s better than nothing.
Good-luck for all members who are holding gold for the medium to long-term…..
