katmonkey reacted to SilverPlatinum in Rwanda Nautical series tarnishing
I do not recommend removing the tarnishing in any way!
Toned/tarnished coins have premium now in North America.
So keep them as is, and sell them as is even with toning.

That's great, thanks! I think I'll just leave them for now & see how they tarnish with time. It does add character to coins in my opinion, my only concern is if I want to sell them in the future, the toning might put people off.

I've got these coins too in original packaging, all in perfect nick.
I would consider breaking them out of the packaging but it might affect their future value
I've wasted a serious amount of time taking Brits out of tubes and putting them in capsules. I hate with a passion removing the dust from the capsules, it gets tiring after 5 never mind 100. The Brits definitely benefit from being in capsules though, a lot of the ones I left in tubes have started to milk but the ones I immediately put in capsules have no milking or tarnishing. The ones I waited a while before putting in capsules have milked inside the capsules
On the plus side tarnishing can easily be removed with dips or baking soda and tinfoil so I would just leave them be. You can always treat the tarnishing in future if you want to

Excellent summary, don't know how you find the time, but OP should be very grateful you did!!

Shaun Oliver has a Double Eagle for sale on Facebook (Backthemetal).
He's asking £1600, which I think is a fair price, spot + 3% (inc. postage)
I've never bought pre-33 American coins before so I'm a little wary about parting with my money.
I've attached some pics that Shaun sent me. What do you think?
I would prefer a nicer example & wouldn't mind paying more for a graded coin, but for the price, I'm tempted.

Nice coin. Price is OK but when you can buy capital gains exempt gold at spot price on this forum I would say it's probably not a great buy.
If it's something you will enjoy along the way then go for it, but as I said if it's just acquiring gold cheap then there might be better deals.

katmonkey reacted to steve3jant in The Tudor Dragon Cometh in Bullion
A lot of negative views about this coin. Personally I like the simplicity of it. Many new releases appear too fussy (trying to be overly clever, in my opinion). I will continue to collect this series. I didn’t want them to be a rehash of the Queen’s Beasts. So it’s a thumbs up from me 😊

No panther yet and it won't be for another 2 coins at least, unicorn next and no way will the RM miss an opportunity to release one of the dragons in early 2024 ( year of dragon after all )
