  1. A few years ago I decided to invest a few Euros in either Diamonds, Whisky or Gold! Not having a clue about anything of the said so I went for Gold. Digging in I became aware of the QB,s collection. So being an expat and proud of British Heritage decided that was the way to go. Started with the Lion, Unicorn etc. BU Coins which are minted in their millions. Digging in deeper discovered that they were also on offer in limited and Proof quality. Didn’t know what Gold Proof (Whisky yes) meant then. The Crux of the matter being what exactly do you want from your investment? I decided to go for the collector, Rare and Quality which always pays off. Takes time I agree but the premium is well worth the wait. I have the complete QB,s 1 oz Gold Proof Set which is an amazing sight. I’ve asked my Gold Dealer hier in Germany if I was to sell would 40.000€ be an acceptable price? He agreed as very reasonable. BUT you have to find a BUYER! Stay safe y,all Howie
  2. Hi @augur I was wondering if you did manage to get the full QB,s 1 oz Gold Proof set? I know it’s an old post but I was quite curious. Take care & Stay Safe. Howie in Germany
  3. Hi Chorlton, thanks for your reply. I also had doubts about coins being bought online if they’re genuine or not! I was thinking of buying a Gold Screener or whatever they’re called for around €1.200,00 but doesn’t make sense for 5-10 Coins. So I came up with the idea that if I can’t determine the genuinity then who can? So I went to a reputable Gold Dealer offering my coins for sale they have all the equipment required for authenticating etc. ! Refused the ridiculous offer then went home feeling quite smirky not having spent a single penny but relieved that my coins were as expected GOLD. Stay Safe & Regards from Germany (Expat)
  4. I was asked a couple of months ago if I was going to Grade my QB,s collection. I was undecided then and didn’t really understand the complicity or better said the reason why! I understand that a collector would only buy the best. My QB,s Completer was ordered but due to Brexit delivered 5 weeks later! So I can’t get a first release grading! It’s the same Coin so why is it 1st release? I know NGC specifies that the Coin must be delivered inside 4 weeks of release. I was always in belief that a Proof Coin was/is the best Mintage quality at this moment in time so where’s the difference? Do they have different Cameo/ Frosted Coins in the US? Just asking! And to be quite honest a Proof Coin in its original presentation box means more to me than the same Coin in a Plastic/Blister packaging with a barcode! So here we go again Buyer or Seller that’s the question? I’ve decided against grading but I suppose it’s just a personal preference. I’ve always thought that companies jump on the bandwagon as soon as money,s involved! Is grading really necessary? Take Care y,all Stay Safe
  5. Na klar. Wie sagt man „es kommt nicht auf die Größe drauf an“.
  6. Danke Maxe, aber wenn ich einige Sammlungen hier betrachte werde ich sooooo klein mit Hut!
  7. Howie

    Your Ugliest Coin?

Now,now now! The proof is in the minting, although?
  8. Too true! I don’t know about England or other European countries but Burglars here are on the rampage. I have one or the other in my Safe at Home which I take out & admire. Would love to buy a display cabinet but wishful thinking! Regards & Take Care
  9. Thanks for your comments. It’s not the only reason why but also the principle of the matter as @CollectorNo1stated. For 1, 2 or 3 Coins OK but the full set? Not really convinced. A Courier service would be around €25,00 peanuts compared with travel costs. München being the next NGC Office about 600 Km away but would be a nice weekend trip though if it wasn’t for COVID-19. Regards & Stay Safe
  10. No not planning on selling them in the foreseeable future. I started collecting the series because I was fascinated by & admiring such beautiful Coins. I’d hoped, (I’ve started so I’ll finish) to get the full set. Wasn’t easy but got there somehow. Not much admiring them now though too scared of burgles etc.
  11. That’s one of my main worries. If The Completer eg. did get lost or somehow disappeared you’d only get the insurance money back. No replacement (I’d have to purchase for double the price I paid for this one) just the insurance! I have lost stuff (disappeared) with DHL before so I’d use a Courier. costly but peace of mind. Take Care & Regards
  12. My thoughts exactly but „What a difference a Grade makes“!
  13. I have acquired all of the Queens Beasts 1 oz Gold Proof Coins of which I am very proud and lucky to possess. I would be very interested to know if anyone else on TSF has the same and has them all Graded? I’ve asked on two other Topics in the forum but sadly no response. I’m in two minds about grading when it comes to Rare Coins! I enjoy them in the presentation box they come with what a beautiful sight. I understand that Collectors only buy the best and from a buyers point of view quite rightly so but given there are only, at the most 380 Sets Worldwide buyers haven’t got that much of a choice anyway! Food for thought. If Grading then I’d go for The Completer which really isn’t part of the Set but a complimentary Coin which I think is the most stunning of the whole series. Any thoughts advice or Pro + Contra about Grading would be most welcome. Stay Safe y,all Regards and greetings from rainy old Germany Howie
  14. Hi @Bixley good morning, thanks for your comments. I purchased the Stands from eBay Germany. https://www.ebay.de/itm/5-Stueck-Muenzstaender-Muenzaufsteller-Kapselstaender-farblos-fuer-1-Oz-Muenzen-/401701143657?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=707-127634-2357-0 they are the only ones I’ve seen in that frosted glass look. I’m not too sure if you’ll understand them though, (all in German) but you can at least send them an eMail & ask for a quote. I got 20 pieces for €8,80 + P&P. If you need any help, interpreting etc don’t hesitate to ask. Stay Safe and Regards from rainy Germany Howie
  15. QB,s 1 oz Gold Proof Full set + Completer. Was wondering if anyone else here on TSF has the complete set and had them graded? Any advice on grading would be most appreciated. @Spanishsilverhas recommended grading from a sellers point of view but I am still undecided. Regards and Stay Safe u all. Howie
  16. Nothing wrong with the camera. Great collection.
  17. @HeirloomsJust my iPhone 11 in Portrait mode using the different lighting effects. For example Stage Spotlight. Regards and Stay Safe
  18. Hi FlorinCollector, that would seem to be the next logical step but I have always been sceptical of grading! I think I’ll go with the „Completer“ first then decide if the whole set will follow or not. Regards Stay Safe.
  19. „I had a dream“ or using the famous words of Magnus Magnussen „I’ve started so I’ll finish“. I was always fascinated by the QB,s series. I started collecting the 1oz Gold bullion coins but then decided to go for the limited 1oz Gold Proofs. I was wondering if anyone else here on TSF has one of the Worldwide 380 Sets? Greetings from Germany.
