One observation collecting sets and / or date runs is you end up, most likely, being tempted into looking for a matching box.
I bought a couple of bespoke labelled wooden boxes that I hadn't realised were physically massive so safe storage then becomes a problem.
Then you fill a box e.g. silver Britannia date run with 20 coins and you need to start a second box; but it will take a further 18 years to complete - hoping the capsule size doesn't change half-way through the year run.
    Oh joy !

Having looked at the mintages for the half ounce Lunars, I think I have more chance of meeting Moses than finishing this series...
P.S. If anyone has a 2008 year of the mouse half ounce silver coin they're willing to sell, let me know 🤣🤣

The half oz lunar series was one of the most popular and mouse, ox, tiger sell for decent premiums. Seen pristine ones go for £100

New series start all the time. Maybe collect new with potential.
Perth mint may do a Lunar series 3.

Are you getting confused with 1/2 kg mouse?

    1/2 oz is 17,114

I also thought fractional silver wasn't as popular so you may find one if you keep a look out.

For Lunar II the cost to collect one ounce against half might end up similar, as the half ounce has two or three that have become very expensive.

Yh at some aspect I do agree with you not paying too much of a high premium on a modern production, but with it being abnormal weight class with a low mintage I’m sure this should be valued slighly more ? Would love to hear everybody’s views if possible, @Silviam appreciate your input

Wouldn't pay more than £500 for 20 ounces myself, and plus I don't think it's worth putting that amount of money into a single coin, especially a modern production rated MS69

I've seen the mouse in the trade section on here before and ebay.  Might cost a bit to meet Moses, Chelsea sent him out on loan.  Playin in Turkey. 🤣

Not a chance. If you’re very lucky they’ll send you a first class stamp to cover your original postage.
Even whey they admit liability, if you’re using a service that isn’t designed for the item you’ve sent, they won’t even think about refunding you.
Fairly recently I lost a 10 oz bar, sent 1st signed for (had done this successfully many times previously, but won’t be doing it again). They admitted the item had been lost and compensated me for my £150 loss with 4 x 1st Class stamps.

Completely agree, they won't give you anything more than the cost of your stamp.
I look at things like this.
So far I have posted over 2500 parcels in the last 2 years. I have had 3 go missing, one of which turned up the day I was going to make a claim, so we didn't bother.
The second was the first claim I ever made, 1 oz silver coin, denied - but got the cost of a 76p stamp - that was a fun cheque to cash at the bank. Fortunately this coin turned up 9 weeks later and the buyer was honest enough to get in touch and pay me for it (this was an eBay sale to boot!)
The third, very similar, except international to Canada. Went missing, was tracked and signed with £50 cover. Vale of items, £200 (I decided to take the risk and not cover fully and I will explain why in a moment). Got the £50 back plus £12 postage. Item then arrived about 7 weeks later, customer got in touch and offered to pay the full amount, I gave him a £62 discount!
Now, to my point (I tend to ramble). I choose to send some of these items without the correct insurance as I have had 3 parcels go missing (although they actually all turned up in the end!) Out of 2500+ so paying the additional money for insurance levels and/or special delivery would have cost me literally £1000's. So I very much will write it off as the cost of doing business if I have an item go missing. For me, I am lucky and seem to have honest customers and some good fortune with my experiences of the post office!

I think that when you start buying silver, it's good to have a good mix of coins and bars in varying weights and dates so you have an idea of what you're purchasing. No good if you're wondering why a 1994 Panda costs a lot more than a 2018 Brittania for example, so have a good mix in your stack and then you will begin a preference

Whatever floats your boat but I'm not a fan of colorized coins.  What thrills me is the ingenuity and artistry of the master die maker to produce a raised and intricate image on a coins surface.

I collect the proof QB's now myself. I have been on a Britannia kick for a while, my collection is a bit uninspired by the past few years, but I've stuck to it this long....
Canadian coins are nice, lots of varieties. If the "goose" you are referring to is the Canadian Silver Dollar then yes those are beautiful coins. I don't see many different dates and varieties up for sale often on eBay. My guess is they might be harder to collect and find unless in the US or Canada.
