He should emigrate to Australia and spend his last few days in the sunshine...plus NO INHERITANCE TAX!.
Failing that, I recently had a dentist friend inherit a huge inheritance of coins from his doctor father...a very sympathetic probate valuation was obtained from a well respected dealer in Birmingham...saved him loads...PM me if you want details..
Best response so far I reckon ‘What Sovereigns’...well done @kimchi!
People need to realise a bank deposit makes you effectively an unsecured creditor...the lowest of the low. Thank goodness I’m not rich enough to worry about these type of issues.

So I stopped by the LCS again and picked up some pretty things that he doesn't often have come in to his shop. Maundy.
1859 4 pence.  My picture doesn't do it justice.  Beautiful, bright with proof-like fields.

    1762 3 pence

And a very attractive 1901 penny.

He also had an absolutely gorgeous 1852 Proof Seated Liberty Half Dollar.  I wish I had thought to take a picture of it. Some MS Trade Dollars.  A lot of other stuff that all came in one collection he bought earlier in the day.

    Sovereigns? What Sovereigns?

Just don't hide them somewhere completely unexpected/devious that isn't in a sealed 'personal private letter' that is bequeathed by your Will (or bury them in your grounds/the general countryside and then lose the map ).

Some 1937 Aussie Crowns. 👑 🇦🇺 "Casey's Cartwheels" was the nick-name given to these large silver five shillings, after Lord Casey - Treasurer of Australia who issued these for circulation. Being so heavy, they weren't well recieved by the general public, so they only lasted for two years. There were over a million 1937 crowns minted, but the 1938 mintage is only about 1/10th of the 1937. "The rumour is that many more 1938 crowns were minted but rather than being released into circulation but they were sold to China where in 1948 they were re-minted as Chinese (Sun Yat-Sen) dollars."
These are hefty to hold and can be quite 'dramatic' in appearance when the toning happens to be right. There's apparently one (or maybe two?) variations of the 1937; a minute speck under letter I on the reverse (a.k.a. the "dot variant").

    Hello to all
Without seeming too soppy and turn this into an Oscar speech, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has pushed that "like" icon, it means a lot to reach that mark. Over the past two years I have learnt so much on here and hopefully passed a little bit of that knowledge on to others.
I've had some great conversations with others on here, made some money, lost some money, learnt how to grade coins, learnt about the scammers and so much more. It's been a real blast participating and seeing the roller coaster rides PM's can be.
It's great the trust level this forum has built up, something that is quite rare these days.
Thanks as well to everyone who run and moderate the forum.
Here's to the next 1000 though that might be a while yet 😁
    Cheers

Just wondering ...How many people who follow this gold monitoring thread, actually trade on the price of gold to earn / lose money? I.e. HAVE SKIN IN THE GAME..not just opinion!
I trade gold ETF’s as a swing trader, as opposed to day, and have had a very ‘interesting’ quarter (+66%)...I use technicals, Elliot wave (sometimes), RSI, MACD, FIBS, BOLS etc ....but primarily am driven by fundamentals and sentiment...I find people I trust (Greg Mannarino, Eric Sprott, Hantec Markets) and act accordingly. Just curious, as I am always open to ideas that work / make me money. Who do you use  that helps...?

    Yes I totally agree.
Anyway, I am more than happy to do my best to help anyone who would like to have their PM tested if in any doubts, as long as in the London area and close to me. 😃 Just to be clear no money involved at all.

It did take a bit longer than I  expected to test it as just wanted to be certain. Because of the plastic cover, in the end it has to use the large wand. Very happy for the result. @Tn21 can now have a very good sleep this weekend. 😃

I would definitely remove it from the packaging, the fakes tend to be the correct weight, but are far thicker...the packaging prevents you from measuring the dimensions accurately.
Hope it works out okay for you..

Got these attractive silver French Francs in auctions over the past week or so, they are identical in size and silver content (835) as the Swiss Francs from the same period (not the 5 franc coin which is 2g smaller).
