Let me tell you something about the BBC..and this is FACT.
In 1989 I was on an industrial placement as part of my degree course, and I worked for Central Television In Portman Square. Six of my fellow students went to work for the BBC. On Day 1, the girls were all warned NOT to get into a lift, or be in a situation where they are on there own with JIMMY SAVILLE!!..The feckers at the BEEB all knew what he was up to and did nothing about it...they absolutely disgust me ...make your own mind up, and I’m sure the culture has changed etc etc..but for me their failure to act on what they knew is unforgivable...I would do away with the license fee and make them enter the real world..
Another little story from the past and the BBC...they liked to look after their favourites...apparently when filming outside London, to ensure they all got home on time, they used to get the taxis to wait from drop off in the morning to when filming ended, to ensure they got home on time..with the meter running all day..they just charged it to the BBC’s taxis account..which we all paid for..NICE!
As I said..a long time ago and I hope those idiots from the past have long since departed...

Been a bit excited for the last few weeks, but today I finally received this 30 g golden beauty! Hugest of thanks to @Marc
Long story short, i'm a bit of a fan of The Phoenix (sentimental place from my uni+ days), hence my collecting of most things Phoenix such as the dragon and phoenix coins here! https://thesilverforum.com/topic/11158-today-i-received/?do=findComment&comment=247324
During my many discussions with @Marc i told him about my affinity for Phoenix coins and he showed me one he had. From that moment i wanted it. Just loved the super design with the Phoenix and obviously the gold! I've got to learn more about the history behind it too. I think he was very reluctant to let it go, but i'm chuffed he did!
Here its is, A 30 g (¥100,000) gold proof (PF70) coin commemorating The Enthronement of Emperor Akihito (Heisei). This emperor recently abdicated, the first time an emperor has done so in over 200 years. They are not rare coins, about 100,000 of them in proof, but they are very scarce outside of Japan. Now that the emperor has abdicated they probably hold a bit more historical significance! There's quite a story about the Japanese 20 g gold coin from this era, but maybe @Marc can tell that story in another post!

the coin was wrapped in kitchen roll, and wedged into a round plastic container with another bit of kitchen roll. this was put into the blue box which used to hold paperclips, this box was sellotaped into the big box and surrounded with more kitchen roll, the box was then covered in what must have been a full roll of sellotape, and then that box was put in a big plastic postage bag.

Usually I'm on the side of defending a comic and free speech, I can appreciate it was a joke but it's still inciting violence
She should give an apology, some kind of fine or unpaid suspension, made to do some charity work with acid victims; but I also wouldn't go as far as to say she should be sacked from everything

Well I am surprised (NOT) that the left wing BBC has defended Jo Brand after her disgusting attempt at humour. It is funny inciting the dangerous violent half wits of this country to throw acid over politicians , by implication her preferred target is Nigel Farage who incidentally has contacted the police.
Let's see in the next few days if the BBC has a change of heart & sacks this disgusting excuse of a human being. I'm not holding my breath though.

No no, I bought on eBay from a guy that had very poor keywords for the coin and nobody bid on it. It looked to me like a guy with just a coin inherited or something that wanted the cash.

Nonetheless the http://thegoldhouseonline.es is cool, they have very good prices for old coins. I've never bought but as I said, a friend of mine has been buying and selling there since a long time ago. I'd be confident buying from them.

I am really fond of South-East Asia culture and architecture. This year the Tiffany Art Serie has highligted Angkor Wat and the Khmer style. I didn't  know this serie before and I decided to order this release. This is a real shock as I have never seen such a beautiful coin, way way way above everything I have seen. Thanks to the the "Smartminting" technologie, we are able to get this incredible level of details and reliefs.
I have tried my best to highlight the coin and the details, but it was really chalenging as it was not with a macro lens ;  I had to shoot in low light to get what I wanted. With this low light, I need a large aperture (that softened the details, and narrowed  the depth of field), and higher iso to get a decent speed but creates noise...
I have managed to get some macros with my phone and a special macro lens, the pictures are not good, but you can see the incredible level of details, all in a 5 cm diameter.
I am hooked by this piece of art and I am pleased to share it with you. I will definitely not flip it ! Grab it at the "low price" while you can if you are interested ...it really worths it
Ok, this is not a forum about photography technics so enjoy ☺️
