  1. @beacon Hi, as to the liquidity of these coins in the US, I can’t really say, and I’m not about to go guessing. In the Uk, I would say I am in a small minority of people who appreciate South American (especially Peruvian) gold coins. As such, they would be tricky to resell at much of a premium above spot. My avenue of escape would be an international auction house, where the high grade coins do fetch good, and improving prices..even allowing for auction fees. The above has been good news for me, as I have managed to hoover-up a large collection of Peruvian gold over the last two years, with very little bidding opposition..although that is slowly changing. That said, the Una Libra collection I have collected is for long-term, and I would part with my far less interesting coins before those, and boy do I have a lot of them😂!
  2. A couple of recent additions to my South American collection..another 5 Quetzals and a 10 Soles.
  3. I wouldn’t pay anyone 1.9% to manage my investments. I have received lots of mail shots from this company over the years…always very glossy and nice looking invitations. But, as an ex-IFA I do not need their services. If you have a specific requirement, there are plenty of folk on this forum that can probably offer sound advice, and for free! If you have gazillions to manage that’s a different story, tax and inheritance planning is important, and needs to be dealt with professionally, and that may involve legal costs i.e. a solicitor. As a side note: Has anyone ever had ‘professional’ financial advice and been told to buy physical gold or silver as insurance?..because I haven’t …that’s because the advisor doesn’t earn any commission on that advice…which makes me question whose interests they are really looking after!
  4. https://www.thesilverforum.com/topic/13090-20-franc-coins-of-the-lmu/ The above is (hopefully), a link to one of the most interesting threads on this forum, everything you would want to know about LMU coins …well worth a read. @Centauri167 Having just looked on the Chards website (where I bought lots of my LMU coins from), they are sold out of 20Fr roosters, and angels (as always!), so demand for them must be strong. I am sure if I ever decided to part with my modest collection, @LawrenceChard would be interested in making me a generous offer 😉. Although maybe not for the rarities…1888,1896 torches’ , which carry a significant numismatic premium. How can you not want to collect LMU coins:- Roosters Angels (less the two rarities)
  5. This update may not help @BackyardBullion unfortunately, but may be of use to those of you that import gold coins! Apologies to FEDEX from me 😱…but not completely. Having paid the customs duty to release my coin, I asked FEDEX to refund me the disbursement fee they had charged. To do this they asked for several pieces of information, none of which were in my possession…basically, they hadn’t sent me my recipient copy of the bill of lading. Having pushed this further, I have now received copies of everything to do with my transaction. The paperwork appears to show that Heritage Auctions have put on a Tariff Code, although it sounds correct, was not the best one they could have used. An hour later, and this is what I understand to be true:- If we import a gold coin, it will be free from all duties if it is deemed to be ‘investment gold’ ..criteria below:- (excuse the copy and paste, I’m not writing it out again!) https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/946674/UK_Gold_List_Table__002__1.pdf In the above example, we should use the Harmonised Tariff code 7189 000000. In this case, the coin should be free of import duty and VAT. If the coin to be imported falls outside of the above criteria (maybe over the 180% of spot rule), then it may be considered to be an ‘item of numismatic interest’ under the commodity code of 9705 000090. In this case, it is still exempt from VAT, but will be liable to an import duty of 5%. In my case, the coin I bought from Heritage did qualify as ‘investment gold’, but they provided the tariff details for ‘an item of numismatic interest’ in stead, which is understandable I guess! Any questions about this ? Don’t ask me!…I’m done!😀
  6. I read this thread a few days ago, when I discovered that Heritage Auctions (USA) were shipping me a gold coin using FEDEX! And Hey Presto!…I received a notification of an import charge this morning. It looks like they have not charged me VAT (got that bit right), but have charged me 5% import duty. The coin should have been exempt (5 Quetzales), as it is listed on the HMRC website as being exempt, and did not cost more than 180% above spot. I have paid the bill, as I was actually relieved it was only 5%, and not the full 20% I was fearing. When the coin and packaging arrives, I will then have to go through the claims procedure at border force AGAIN 😠. I was going to bid at auction on a few nice items (abroad)over the next month or so, but this is really putting me off. Will update the thread if I get any useful information…wish me luck!
  7. Hi @KevinFlynn I love those angels, and they are getting hard to find these days. If you EVER see this version of the 1896 angel, buy it…the torches’ engravers mark is really rare!👍 The one you have is the axe…and it’s in far better condition than mine👍
  8. On the 1oz privy front, I can probably help…as I spent a happy year or two collecting them. I never found a definitive list of all of them, either on the Perth Mint website or anywhere else…and I did look…really hard! I do also have a few of the F15 privy 1oz kooks, although not the last two years…I refuse to pay £100+ for one oz of silver! I also never went for the coloured varieties or the lunar. There are also the gilded kooks to consider. I The table below is what I consider to be a pretty complete list of all the 1oz privy kooks, most of which I will have an example of. It’s on an excel spreadsheet, so doesn’t import onto the forum easily. Here goes my best shot :- 1992 Eagle Proof 1993 Sydney Opera House 1993 Eagle Proof 1994 Commonwealth Games Kangaroo 1995 Panda 1995 Basler Slab 1996 Foundation Stone Centenery 23-9-96 1996 Europe Brandenberg Gate 1996 Europe Eiffel Tower 1996 Europe Colossus of Rhodes 1996 Europe Tower Bridge 1996 Europe Atomism Belgium 1996 Tricentennial 1996 Panda 1996 Goya 1997 Goudi 1997 Thomas Edison 1997 Zurich 1997 Oldsmobile 1997 Phoenix 1997 Dragon 1997 Japanese Yen Old Type 1997 Panda 1997 Europe Elk Finland 1997 Europe Monument Portugal 1997 Europe The Windmill Netherlands 1997 Europe Italy Coluseum 1997 Europe Little Mermaid Denmark 1998 Europe The Harp Ireland 1998 Europe Robert Schumann Building Lux 1998 Europe The Alhambra 1998 Europe St Stephens Vienna 1998 Europe The Delaware Ship Sweden 1999 1919 Square Penny 1999 Delaware State Quarter 1999 New Jersey Mint 1999 Georgia 1999 Pennsylvania 1999 Connecticut 1999 16th C Japanese Oval Tempo Koban 1999 Bullion 50 Francs Lux 1999 Bullion 20 schilling Austria 1999 Bullion 1Deutschmark 1999 Bullion 50 Francs Belg 1999 Bullion 1 guilder 1999 Bullion 5 francs France 1999 Bullion 1000 Lire 1999 Bullion 100 pesetas 1999 Bullion 50'escudoa 1999 Bullion 1 punt Ireland 1999 Bullion 1 Marka Finland 1999 Landmarks Perth 1999 Landmarks Gold Coast 1999 Landmarks Adelaide 1999 Landmarks McDonnell 1999 Landmarks Sydney 1999 1899 Centenary Sovereign 2000 Landmarks Kalgoorlie 2000 Landmarks Monkey Mia 2000 Landmarks Gt Barrier Reef 2000 Landmarks Uluru 2000 Landmarks Australia 2000 2000 Massachusetts 2000 Maryland 2000 South Carolina 2000 New Hampshire 2000 Virginia 2000 Jan Millennium Calendar 2000 Feb 2000 Mar 2000 Apr 2000 May 2000 Jun 2000 Jul 2000 Aug 2000 Sep 2000 Oct 2000 Nov 2000 Dec 2001 New York 2001 North Carolina 2001 Rhode Island 2001 Vermont 2001 Kentucky 2001 Santa Claus 2001 Santa Claus 2001 Confederation Star 2002 American Flag 2005 Zodiac Aquarius 2005 Pisces 2005 Aries 2005 Taurus 2005 Gemini 2005 Cancer 2005 Leo 2005 Virgo 2005 Libra 2005 Scorpio 2005 Sagittarius 2005 Capricorn 2012 Dragon 2013 F15 2013 Snake 2014 F15 2014 Horse 2015 F15 2015 Goat 2016 Monkey 2016 F15 2017 Rooster 2017 F15 2017 Shark 2017 Panda 2018 Dog 2018 F15 2018 Panda 2019 Pig 2019 Square penny 2019 F15 2019 Panda 2020 ANDA Perth Money Expo Floral 2020 ANDA Brisbane Money Expo 2020 ANDA Melbourne Cactus privy 2020 ANDA Sydney Floral Privy I do also have Mintage figures for most of the above, but they would not copy over!
