CadmiumGreen got a reaction from Roy in Reading glasses or laser eye surgery?
I was able to get PRK done 20 years ago courtesy of the military, given my assignment allowed for laser eye surgery. I was significantly myopic with astigmatism...corrected to 20/20. I am still holding strong with close to 20/20, but my near sight will never be the same. Still don’t need reading glasses yet. Also can confirm that there is haloing of lights at night. Little annoying but accustomed to it.  Also, one other thing to consider is how much cornea they cut away...I had a fairly intensive eye exam taken a couple of years ago and was informed that sections of my cornea were extremely thin resulting with age.
Try taking some bilberry extract...not proven medically, but it helped British Royal Air Force pilots in WWII (mostly for night vision).

Received 2019 Piedfort Proof Set from the Royal Mint today.  Beautiful set.  Unfortunately, I'll be sending it back as the D-Day and Wedgewood 2 pound coins have serious flaws.  The D-Day has a a major scratch that must be almost a centimeter long, and the Wedgewood has a ring of blemishes along the circumference of the silver near the transition to gold plating.  Especially with the scratch on the D-Day, it boggles the mind how such a flaw could get past any quality assurance checking and actually be sold.  I'm certainly not a nitpicker that expects every coin to be an unblemished perfect 70, but these two are just bad, and shame on the Royal Mint for trying to sell such lousy quality.  I'm going to give some thought in the next couple days about whether to return for exchange or return and cancel, as now I'm worried what might get sent in exchange.  I wish they would let you just return the defectives, as I really do like the Holmes, and the 5 pound is a nice hefty chunk of silver beauty.

Picked up this 1977 Gold Proof Cyprus £50 coin at a reasonable price. Its in great condition, some very very light surface scratches perhaps where someone wiped it with a cloth but overall very good. Prob a PF67-68 after conservation I would hope.

I am a muslim, i got my masters degree from the UK. I respected the UK culture and during my stay, i never had anything but great memories. British people were nice to me and i made lots of friends at school and work and i am still in contact with them until now.  I am a muslim but i used to volunteer to help the homeless in leeds. I used to care about the society, help people and even remove plastic bags/glass and anything that might hurt others. I am stateless (Palestinian), i dont have a country and i find it really hard to even live or see my loved ones. I had the opportunity to overstay after my studies, but i didn't because i respect the laws, although i wished i could stay, be part of the society and have a country to call home that i love and protect.
I understand that muslims are a problem at the moment, but it hurts when we generalize.
People are either good or evil regardless of their religion. I respect all religions.
I understand that many people move to other countries and never respect their culture and above all that, create problems and never integrate. Ive seen them and i disliked it.

CadmiumGreen reacted to Oldun in Royal Mint “Continuity” Coins
This is only for non UK buyers but I was told by email today that as an overseas buyer, if the coin is a “continuity” coin, that is, a coin like the Captain Cook series which a buyer commits to reserving and purchasing over a few years, postage is free.
I was initially charged shipping for the first two coins I ordered together today and queried it, hoping to combine the order and only pay the usual single shipping cost.
Customer service then surprised me by saying that there was zero shipping cost as it was a continuity.
Result, free shipping for continuity coins ordered from outside The UK but do check your invoice as mine had shipping costs included and I only found out it was free after talking to customer service and sending them the invoice they originally sent me.

An eBay bargain, I think. A 1 oz high relief Koala Proof. Chunky monkey, about the same thickness as a 2 oz beast.

Today I received my 100gm Metalor silver bar from @Sovereign to go with 5 ASE's that I got elsewhere. Also my 1oz swan from @arshimo2012, which arrived last week and a 2002 sovereign that I picked up from my local bullion dealer in the high street today for a good price.

Stacking is stacking as far as I am concerned, and at 97% of spot these 9ct charms were not a bad buy... Some may disagree of course.
