  1. I wanted the version in the card, I couldn't find it any dealer. And the problem with ordering from UK would probably remain.
  2. https://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2010/act/31/section/90/enacted/en/html I found this describing "investment gold" and my sovereign definitely falls under this description. (ii) gold coins which— (I) are of a purity equal to or greater than 900 parts per 1,000 parts, (II) are minted after 1800, (III) are or have been legal tender in their country of origin, and (IV) are normally sold at a price which does not exceed the open market value of the gold contained in the coins by more than 80 per cent.
  3. Royal Mint just replied on how I can see my transaction history, so practically the only thing I could do already! No response about the invoice I need or why I was charged VAT etc. I replied all this and waiting.. Now I just want to cancel the order and get my money back if possible. This hassle isn't worth it really...
  4. Thank you for all your replies and suggestions. I will try to reply to everything in one go: For some strange reason my order does not appear in the purchases in my Royal Mint account. I have only found it in the Transactions marked as "delivered". When I sent a message through their form, it was also asking for customer number, which I couldn't locate. Not very happy with how the whole site works so far, but let's see if and what they reply... If I can just send it back and get a refund I would be fine. But I had read that they don't accept returns in bullion, is this the case? From the Irish post they gave me an email address to send all the details for my dispute. One issue is that I don't even have an invoice, I can't retrieve anything from my Royal Mont account! So I have to wait for their reply first. However this finishes, I think that UK is out of reach for me, under the present circumstances. Which is a pity, because there is a very alive community over there and plenty of good deals. 😕 I will keep updating here with any news.
  5. I haven't been active in the last few years, as my attention had moved to other things. Now I am getting back into the coins world and one of my first stops was to get back here. The forum has always been a good source of information for me, and I have bought and sold a lot of stuff in here. But that was in the pre-Brexit time... 🙄 I was interested in a couple of silver bars but other members informed me that silver would be charged with VAT when going through customs. So I gave up on that and looked at gold. I ordered a half sovereign from the Royal Mint and today I got notification from the post that I was charged with 23% VAT and they had also valued the item about 30% more than I had paid! My impression was that investment gold shouldn't be charged with VAT. I just sent an email to Royal Mint to ask about all this. If this is the case, it makes purchasing or selling anything to and from UK untenable, at least for me. I would like to hear other opinions and see if I am missing something. 🤔
  6. Hi, do you know if there are any taxes for postage to Europe (Ireland)?
  7. I would like one please, will pm you
  8. I will like one please, will pm you
  9. I had a set from 1991-2019 of gilded Kookaburras. Some of them were private versions, especially the latest ones. never seen the first (1990) in gilded. I know that some were official versions with box and certificate. But not sure if they are the only ones.
  10. @LawrenceChardthank you for the wealth of information. 🧐 Some great points in your post, that I will try to keep in mind in the future. The medal was bought from Emporium Hamburg auction and the link is here https://www.biddr.com/auctions/emporiumhamburg/browse?a=1699&l=1838753 I hope that helps. I would mainly like to have some more info about gold %, so I can create a pretty accurate sales description.
  11. Yes, that's the one, thank you. Page has a subscription though... 🤔
  12. This is the page from the auction:
  13. The 1967 is the year of the restrike I suppose. Haven't tested it, since it was bought for around 200€, and I don't have any cheap way to do it here. And the fact it was bought from a big auction house makes me not to worry really. But before I sell it, I would like to provide the potential buyers with as much info as possible.
  14. Thanks but I am mostly looking for info about the restrikes. 🧐
  15. One more try to get more information about this. I want to put it for sale but not sure about the gold percentage. I got it from a big auction house, so I feel quite confident about its authenticity, but not easy to sell without knowing the grade. 🙄
  16. Three Lincoln sets from 1967, all with different labels, including the latest San Francisco one. All with RD designation, which is a must for my copper coins.
  17. Two more gold coins won in auctions. Tunisia 5 dinars (9.55 gr.) and Lichtenstein medal (6.95 gr.)
  18. My large slabs from PCGS. Four silver, one bronze and one silver/bronze. Some are definitely the first ones graded from their type.
  19. I think they are not allowed to ship in US or something similar. Which is kind of stupid, because this coin didn't come from Iran and such items can be outside the country for decades or even centuries. Anyway PCGS didn't have a problem, maybe they grade them in Europe...? 🤔
  20. My latest PCGS submission came back. These are the regular size slabs (two are double thickness), I will present the large ones in another post. Some notes: One came back as "Details", it seems I can't avoid these completely but I have become better... 🙄 The Austrian medal had come back as "non eligible" from NGC and now it got a great SP69, nice surprise! 😎 NGC had also refused to grade my Iranian gold coin. Something that had to do with sanctions, which I couldn't understand, as this was from before the Islamic revolution. And they have graded several such Pahlavi coins. Anyway PCGS had no such issue and got a respectable MS65. 🧐 I am glad that the peculiar octagonal medal was graded, I was not sure about that. It sits a little sideways in the slab but maybe it has to do with the unusual shape. Two went in thick slabs and especially glad about the Spanish medal, again was not sure if they will slab it. Overall pretty happy and it proved that if one company refuses to grade something, you can always try the other one. PCGS seems very knowledgeable with European medals but I had problems with some American ones. I send all the US medals to NGC now and if something fails, I will try PCGS too.
  21. Oh but it is, it's on the other side like the silver one. 1963 is probably the year that the coin club was founded. You scared me for a second! 😅
  22. Here is the other side. And I also have the Bronze one, which I will be sending to NGC next.
