The truth is that I am really not that bothered with my info/details being passed/out-sourced to a third party mailing company....
With the huge digital footprint that I must leave on a daily basis - using my debit and credit cards, a plethora of loyalty cards, records of my landline and mobile phone calls being logged and retained, my travel movements being stored on my iPhone, a record of the websites I visit, both my car and my face being caught on CCTV/security cameras every time I venture outside my front door - my name and address being on one more database just isn't an issue for me

As is often the case with me, I tend to look at things in a very simplistic way...….
    * I have bought some very keenly-priced gold sovereigns from H&B - happy days!
    * Since then, I have regularly received significant amounts of mail from them inviting me to buy some extremely pricey coins from their range
    * I don't get "hot under the collar" about these mailings, nor do I send a cease and desist letter to H&B, nor do I threaten them with reporting them to the Data Protection authorities or legal action; I just put their letters in a marvellous invention called "The Bin" - it's very, very easy!

So your original post about how simple it was to pay only 10% tax without mentioning this offshore connection was misleading and didn't really add anything to the conversation, other than to suggest how clever you were?

Sort of, the money usually only stays untaxed if it remains offshore.  Bring onshore and taxes become liable.

It’s not really the best suggestion to say just move somewhere else.  That solution probably only works for a very small minority.  Most people have ties such as family and friends or kids schools and their friends and so on.  For a lot of people there are far more important things in life than the amount of tax they pay.

There's good science, and there's bad science. Unfortunately, nearly all of the climate change lobby's arguments are based upon bad science.
    Good science shows both that-
there are measurable increase in greenhouse gasses caused by human activity
The earth's climate is and has always been changing

Unfortunately the bad science conflates these two factors. Current change may or may not be noticeably influenced by our human activities, but without doing more good science it is impossible to know. We can measure CO2 levels and we can plot average global temperatures and see that in this period of history they appear to loosely correlate, but what we cannot do is a multivariate regression analysis on the impact of increased carbon dioxide and its effect on global temperature changes, because it is impossible to control all other variables.
Like it or not, the whole point of science is that it must prove a hypothesis, and science as of today cannot prove that more greenhouse gasses are causing global warming. Therefore I remain a skeptic. As I say, history also shows that global temperatures are always in a long term state of flux, and you are doing science a huge disservice if you do not at least acknowledge the possibility that we are just in a phase where temperatures may be going up regardless of what gasses we are releasing into the atmosphere.
Unfortunately history shows that bad science is usually used to drive politics and public govt policy. The same error was used by Ancel Keys in the 1960s to "prove" that saturated fat causes heart disease and shift public policy towards counting calories and belief in low fat.

Precious metal stacking by its very nature attracts people that are also great believers in conspiracy theories. And I'm happy to accept that, and let sleeping dogs lie in most cases. But this made me laugh out loud. The tin foil hat is strong in this one, if they believe that TR is a Mossad asset. I suppose his good friend Avi Yemeni is his handler as well. Lol. All I see here is the oft repeated bs, from the left, who see secret cabals with their strings being pulled by Tel Aviv. Oh and the earth is flat, we didn't land on the moon, and chemtrails are messing up our brains.
Unlike the majority of people here, I actually have friends and family within both the UK and US security forces, and 99.99% of all conspiracy theories are laughable and not true. I could tell you more, but I've actually signed the official secrets act, and don't wish to languish in jail.

Sending back ‘return to sender’ won’t cost them anything, Royal Mail don’t charge for that.
If you don’t want to receive any more just send one back marked ‘Gone away’.  They will think you have moved then and should stop sending them.

@sixgun Flipping over to different entities for trading allowances, parents, in-laws, the wife etc. sounds like blatant tax evasion (the illegal one) rather than tax avoidance.
Lets be honest here, your parents, in-laws, the wife etc. are they going to do the sales listings, the shipping and record keeping?
Yes we could set up a Ltd company and this is easy. But we don't want to set up a Ltd company. That comes with significant privacy issues and a hell of a lot more administrative burden.
I would just like to re-iterate the point here that if you are selling something (even CGT exempt coinage) AS A TRADE as determined by HMRC then you will need to a) register for self assessment if you are a sole trader and/or b) if you hit £85,000 turnover register for VAT.
The setting up of multiple entities and using of other peoples allowances or even getting your partner to "act" as a sole trader is just asking for trouble. We could very easily have set up "Mrs BYB" as a sole trader selling hand poured silver my business "sold" her. But lets be honest here, HMRC would simply look at this as evasion and rightly so.
There is a fine line between avoidance (legal) and evasion (Illegal) and there are a lot of suggestions coming on this and the other thread I started that fall very much into the evasion category.
