SilverTanner got a reaction from Zhorro in Today I Received.....
Finally acquired a better Napoleon Premier Consul half franc - a while ago but stuck in the post!
Completes my Napoleon 30 coin typeset, it only took nearly 20 years and 12 years for a graded version.

Absolutely blown away by this morning's arrival...
A 1984 🐼 panda 🐼!
Before 1989 pandas there were no bullion pandas, and a few years were only issued as proofs containing 27g of 0.900 silver, and in relatively small numbers. It is the first one at a sensible price I have seen in UK in two years of panda collecting so had to have it.
It joins the embarrassment* of pandas in my collection along with two 2023s that arrived this week from @Pandao
*that's the collective noun for pandas. Ironic as I'm actually quite proud of my 🐼 pandas!

Recently arrived from Sincona auction.
So much 'character' If only coins could talk!
Any interpretation ideas on the graffiti?
Damaged 'E' die apparently common.
Bit of haymarking, which I think adds to the 'character'.
And it's got the wrong crown according to Marsh, should have 4 more pearls?

Answer is that the PCGS coin is AU53 and the NGC coin is AU55, I would probably have given the PCGS coin XF details.
Motto is buy the coin and not the holder and I can't tell the difference between a 69 and a 70, unless it should be 67 and 70

No coins today but sharing this great Charles I reference to help with the thrill of the chase.

Received this Aussie sixpence this morning, splashed out a tenner for it, pretty nice in the hand. There's some lustre on the reverse beneath the toning.

Thanks @entsor for the Halfcrown & Shilling 👍
And a snap of the growing collection of Charles I coinage.

Three very handsome new additions to my predecimal collection arrived this week.
Lovely clean Anne halfcrown
1902 crown
And a 1930 wreath crown. Scarcer year with under 5000 made.
With a dent in the bank balance of almost £700 for the three, these will be the last additions for this year... Hard to be patient sometimes when there are such treasures out there waiting to be bought!

Big arrival for me today - a coin I have been looking to add to my collection since I started my affair with gold.
1966 Rhodesia Gold Pound with a mintage of 5000, issued by Ian Smith’s rebel government without the authority of the British Crown on the first anniversary of Rhodesia’s Unilateral Declaration of Independence.

Now to save up for the £5 to complete the set.

Two more fantastic additions to my growing predecimal coin collection arrived today.
Victoria 1849 "Godless" florin from 1849. A highly controversial coin in its time due to the omission of the otherwise omnipresent "dei gratia" or d.g. The design hence lasted only one year.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford a gothic crown so a gothic florin will have to hold its seat
And my first proof predecimal coin, a 1902 halfcrown with beautiful colourful tones.
Always an underwhelming portrait imo but the detail on the proof does bring out its quality.

Two more Sixpences. A beautifully toned 1834 William IV and a Commonwealth Sixpence, VF grade albeit with a wavy flan.
This Sixpence was struck In 1653, after the dissolution of Parliament, and the Army Council adopted Oliver Cromwell Lord Protector of a united "Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland", inaugurating the period now usually known as the Protectorate.
The Commonwealth was the political structure during the period from 1649 to 1660 when England and Wales, later along with Ireland and Scotland, were governed as a republic after the end of the Second English Civil War and the trial and execution of Charles I. The republic's existence was declared through "An Act declaring England to be a Commonwealth".
Coins struck during the Commonwealth are inscribed in English instead of Latin as a truer expression of Protestantism.
The St. George’s Cross & the Irish Harp take the place of the Royal Arms. The obverse inscription boldly reads ‘The Commonwealth Of England’ and Reverse, ‘God With Us’.

Two more Sixpences toward my Monarch Type Set, and the last of my recent tranche of buying.
The first is a 1687 James II Sixpence. Extremely scarce in this high grade. All James II coinage is difficult to source due to the dearth of it and his (disastrous) three year reign prior to exile.
The more familiar portrait of George III is easier to pick up, but this high grade uncirculated example is a welcome addition, thick with toning and haze that gives way to a nice iridescent brilliance.
The bottom photos are of the two Brothers together- Charles II & James II.

They are perhaps nothing special to most people, but I've just picked up what are without a doubt the oldest silver coins I have that still have clearly visible dates on (1573 and 1579). It boggles my mind how old these are.
Shot on my knee with my phone like a pro.

The "other day" I received a full set of silver stackable shields. I was only after one but panda six pack offered the full set for a price I couldn't refuse.
Technically they are stackable bars but the design, high relief detail. immaculate quality and quirkiness put them on another level above most coins and bars.
Thank you panda six pack👍

Gold, Silver & Bronze today. A lovely 1839 Victoria Proof Plain Edge Sixpence, a Charles I Groat & thank you @DuncanWylieWilson for the 1953 Elizabeth II South Africa Long Set.
Photograph's at the bottom are a comparison of the 1839 Plain Edge with my 1853 Milled Edge Proof Sixpence and nice to look at the four different Victoria Proof Sixpences- the Young Head’s and the 1887 Jubilee and the 1893 Veiled Head.
