  1. How's that country song go? "No such thing as too much money A girl too pretty, with too much class Being too lucky A car too fast"
  2. Smurfette has a few choice words for you.
  3. Beautiful coin! Keep it, just buy more gold. 😎 I have one too but it's not from a shipwreck as far as I know. But it does have chop marks, so that's kinda cool too.
  4. I wasn't and still am not a regular watcher of SpongeBob but years ago I was sitting in this one cafe, just relaxing. They had SpongeBob playing on the TV and during one particular episode I simply could not stop laughing. I was laughing so hard I was crying and I felt like a complete idiot, and probably looked like one, but it was just too funny.
  5. As I was growing up I remember my grandfather and father finding silver coins in random change and saving them. So I've been doing the same thing my entire life. And when I had the means to do so, I began buying rolls of silver coins and the occasional gold coin, as well. That's how I was introduced to the concept.
  6. This could be the most accurate take on future possibilities. It seems the US money system is going to be completely digital in the near future. So then how do gold and silver factor in? So what we may be facing is likely unprecedented. I really believe we have no idea what things will look like. But I don't know what else to do to prepare other than to stack food, water, other necessities, and silver and gold.
  7. Not too terribly exciting but I added another 3.6 ounces to the stack, uncirculated 1962 vintage, fractionalized of course. I think I got a pretty good deal too, at about $35 per ounce.
  8. Yep, exactly. As an American I've wondered over the years whether the official stories we're told, the American mythology, are true or how true they might be. You know, the stories of George Washington, Paul Revere, etc, etc. Some of us wonder if there was any actual independence or if it was just another scheme by the royals, and if the DC Capitol is their London 2.0 or whatever, and it's just a new version of the East India Company. If that made any sense...
  9. For practical reasons I'd probably only buy gold in fractional coins. But I can't deny the beauty of a cast bar. They're stunning.
  10. It's my belief that the nature of power in this world is that it's all organized crime. The US and Chinese gov'mnts are just rival factions, fighting over the trafficking and control of drugs, people, resources, etc.
  11. Do we really believe the Taliban (whomever these people called "the Taliban" really are) are going to "ban drugs"? If they have the large majority of opium production in the world since after 2001 (hmmm...), are they gonna say no to all that cash flow? Who do we think these "Taliban" really are? They run the $600 billion per year US imperial war machine out of town? Just like US-created al Qaeda "brought the US to their knees" in 2001? Really...? People need to stop listening to the television.
  12. Just be sure you can readily tell the difference between the real and fake. 😬
  13. It's one of the coins I'd love to get but I refuse to pay what they typically sell for, and wow, the RM is crazy for charging that much. (Get a 5 peso Mexican coin instead. Same gold content, way cheaper)
  14. I'm the opposite in that I much prefer gov't minted gold coins. They're already "money" or were already used as money and in recognized and understood denominations. And they're more durable and easily stackable. My preferred gold are older Mexican and US coins in the 5 peso and 5 dollar variety, and they're all .900 gold. I think only one of my gold coins is 24k and it's a commemorative US Mint issue. I don't have any bars or tokens, only coins.
  15. NewCoins is the beast! 😲 What does your name code too numerically? 🤔 Just as a side note, Revelation 13:18 says "666" is also the number of a man. Some translations also say "the number of his name." Revelation 13:18 ESV "This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666."
  16. I don't know this, I'm just putting this out there, but film tubes may not be safe for silver coins. Their chemical composition may cause tarnishing with silver. The closest thing I can think of are silver dollar tubes, which are about 38 mm diameter.
  17. Nothing earth shattering but an interesting find, this 1934 wheat penny I received in change. It's been a while since I've found a wheat penny in random change.
  18. I don't usually see US junk silver priced as a multiple of face value. I just see it priced at whatever price they're asking. Then it's up to me to determine how much above spot it is, and therefore whether it's a reasonable deal or not. These days anything less than 20% premium is a good deal.
  19. Is this one of the offensive designs? I don't mind this one too much. It has an art deco look to it. But when it comes to Britannias I really like the design that's been around for years, and think it's one of the better looking coins around.
  20. 32 coins so far, approximately 5.5 oz
  21. I'd take them at $1 over spot! They'd be a good addition to the stack.
  22. I've been considering adding some Beskar to the stack. 🤔
  23. Yeah those are nice. Are they the 80% silver coins that were in circulation?
  24. Happy Easter! Now that would be something to have! 😲
