That's a shame your original coin went missing. Presumably stolen...
I'm with you on the original capsule & packaging v slabbed bit. I understand the slabbing, but just don't get it.
Anyway, it seems you have a few options.
    1. Accept the current situation.
    2. Buy replacement cap & box, crack open the slab and live with no CoA.
    3. Sell the graded one and hope a raw one turns up with its CoA at some point.
    4. Find someone willing to part with the OMP & CoA of their slabbed coin.
    5. Find someone willing to swap their raw for an MS69.
For me its option 2 then option 4. The odd coin out would annoy me way more than the missing CoA.
Anyway, I really hope you get a solution your happy with. Maybe this fine forum will provide the answer. Good luck.
  5. Super LOVE

I agree with you on the box and COA as well.  I also have a collection of these coins, and if I were in your situation I would hold the PF69 Griffin as it is, while staying on the lookout for a boxed coin.  I'm sure if you're patient one will turn up in time.  At that point you can sell the PF69 Griffin to offset the cost.
I personally would not be satisfied with just the COA...in my opinion the presentation boxes for these 10oz silver coins are very nice.  It was nice of the dealer to source a replacement coin for you in any case.  Good luck!

Usually, the number stamped on silver plated cutlery is showing the quantity of pure silver used to produce a set of 12+12 pieces.
So a thick silver plate fork can have stamped 90, 100, 120, a thin one will have 20, 40 or 60. More details about silver plated articles you can find on this page: https://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html
A continental solid silver fork is stamped 800, 830, 850, 900, showing the percentage of silver used for that specific alloy. More interesting informations about marks you can find on this page: http://www.silvercollection.it/sitemaphallmarks.html
Your spoon and fork are most probably silver plated, made in the middle of last century by french manufacturer Ercuis, using 60g of pure silver for 12 spoons and 12 forks, with an average of 2.5g silver/piece when new.
    Kindest regards,
    Stefan.

    A bit of fun.

For the next large TSF prize draw to advertise and bring awareness of the forum, which will be in around a month or two. Should we double the prize and have 2x 5oz silver bars up for grabs, 2 different winners each winning a 5oz silver bar. If you think we should then like this post.

If this post gets 100+ likes we will give away 2x 5oz silver bars. (I have set this target deliberately low so that it is easily obtainable)

If this post reaches 200+ likes, we will add a small bonus

@robinvonbrex I contacted the South Africa Mint and their reply was
    "Hi Mark,
The mint only issued coins with 2 ears. Early marketing images were made available to our dealers prior to production which had the single (flat) ear but were never produced. We have made the correct images available to our dealers prior to launch but it seems as if some of them have not updated their marketing collateral.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention we will contact our dealers again to avoid any confusion."
There was an advert in one of the local Gazettes regarding the upcoming "Big five releases" This also showed the plan for the "One ear" version, but more interestingly it also showed the plan for the final release of the Buffalo. A nice series to own. Take a look at page 10 of https://archive.opengazettes.org.za/archive/ZA/2019/government-gazette-ZA-vol-645-no-42327-dated-2019-03-22.pdf

These three all look from early to mid 20th Century. More inspection would cut this down to 20-30 years and identify the mints responsible.
Maria Theresia Taler are great coins to collect and range from 1741 to 1780. After the death of Maria Theresia in 1780 all subsequent Talers with her image were dated 1780 and are still minted today with this date at the Austrian mint.
Subtle differences identify the different mints that produced them and original non restricted 1780 coins are few and far between.
There is a tremendous amount of history linked with this coin that is thought to be the fore runner to the dollar, used for trading throughout the world, and minted in Vienna, London, Birmingham, Paris, Milan, Bombay to name but a few.
Check out this site but be prepared for an addiction. Sorry for the rant
