Stu got a reaction from AuricGoldfinger in 2022 Sovereign design revealed?
I still think they missed a trick by not doing a platinum sovereign. Still time for that right enough. It should/would be cheaper than gold also, taking VAT into consideration also. ‘moan the mint!

If any forum members are still looking for the full or half then there are some available at Britannia Coin Company, little over issue price but certainly not crazy.

@Floyd1504 There is a half sovereign too, if you still wanted it!

It is a Thai Massamam with 9 different kinds of veg, leftover Roast Chicken. Giant pot, food for many many days.

I must be getting a bit long in the tooth. I just can't keep up with what's acceptable or not anymore.
That's the way to do it. Rock up at 5pm on release day. Order. Walk away with a sov.

I've got a feeling there's a good few blokes today coming up with some spectacular BS to tell their wives why they have spent so much money today!
I only pressed it once love and it must have gone through 4 times!!!!

The 3-coin sets were showing as "Awaiting stock" from the very outset.

If anyone else wants to thank me, I'm accepting those pesky quarter Sovereigns that nobody wants at the end of the 5-pack

Stu got a reaction from MickB in Best place to put £50 a month for my granddaughter?
https://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/junior-isas/
Some comparisons. I think the recipient gains access at 18 so you would have to have a private agreement that they would not receive until 21 etc. Not legally binding and child could do what they wanted with cash at 18.

Junior ISA? Depends when you think she may want/you want her to have it. ISAs can be accessed at 18 and can have cash and/or stocks & shares flavours.
Banks are not much use for anything these days, except maybe laundering money(the banks that is, not me😄HSBC have form)

Stu reacted to KevinFlynn in Thoughts on buying platinum?
Platinum is one of the odd metals, so opinions are not as well defined as with gold or silver.
My basics are:
Platinum is more of a commodity (like silver).
Platinum has not been imprinted as a monetary metal (unlike silver or gold).
Platinum has fallen from a high value (higher than gold), to a value lower than gold.
The usage of Platinum, mainly as a catalyst, went down, because it's mainly used with Diesel engines.
My conclusions:
Platinum is potentially undervalued at the moment and has an upwards potential.
Platinum is a speculative investment.
My thoughts on buying Platinum:
I'm using my usual considerations on price over spot.
Nationally minted or 'named' coins and bars are the more substantial investments.
Personally I would not buy under an ounce - it is relatively cheap, at least as opposed to gold, and a speculative profit needs a certain volume to make an impact.
My suggestions:
Buy if you want to diversify, but realize it is more for speculation than wealth conservation (i.e. a higher risk than gold).
Buy more for the metal content than for the form of the metal, i.e. do not key your decision to collectability
Mind VAT, buy from private if possible.

Stu got a reaction from watchesandwhisky in Where would you put 500 a month for the next 10 years?
All the best with the wedding when it comes mate, others appear extreme at times. I heard in my country prior to WWII, you simply needed to declare your intentions with 2 witnesses present and you were legally married. Cost of some ink and paper.
Regarding savings/investment. Access to SIPP is from 55 rising to 57 so that may be a determine factor.
