@MarkV the likelihood of a replacement is slim I’d guess. Hope you can sort it. If for any reason you return this for a refund please can you offer it on here first to those who missed out.
someone will offer you RRP and postage for it.

I think they are kicking the arse out of the Tudor series and would not touch with a barge pole personally. The fact the gold releases for panther have not sold says it all for me.
I am not sure how you build rapport with mint account manager. I certainly wouldn’t buy anything I thought had negative potential.
I think it may come down to how much you expect. I missed out on the gothic crown and my AM secured me the 2oz silver. A day or two later and it looks like I have the the portrait also. Do not get me wrong, I wanted the gold, but the person concerned delivered the goods with little requests. Worth having in that respect.

The postie dropped her off about an hour ago.
For anyone wondering, yes, I can confirm that it had a fantastic, chocolate centre. Very delicious, and I discarded the foil wrapper in the recycling bin like a good citizen. Sadly, the bin I put it in was lost in a tragic boating accident.
What are the odds?
Many thanks to @James32; a true gent and scholar!

Absolutely agree, as a one off I didn't want the extra expense of the Dremmel, if doing on a regular basis I would much prefer the surgeons knife (Dremmel) to my caveman approach lol...

So we have a "collector" (~good) and a "flipper" (~bad), and a "collector-flipper" (~neutral) - my head hurts! I just like shiny things!
I see myself more of an "investor" - I am buying at today's prices, hoping to sell for a decent return, years from now.
But when does a "flipper" become an "investor"? How long should one wait, not to branded a "flipper"?

I’ve never done one but thought a dremmel would make light work of it.

Bolt cutters and a screwdriver do the job as well takes about a minute 😀.

@westminstrel I love having open debate with people of opposing sides and I'm from a generation where I can disagree with someone but still respect them, and their right to have their say without being "offended" or getting up set. Some of my best conversations are with people who I don't like personally yet respect them enough to hear their point of view, something many people could do with learning.

Yeah I’m not judging anyone either - I guess I’m just trying to arrive back at my original conclusion that the Royal Mint has no real way of controlling anything because a “collector” is hard to distinguish from a “flipper”, especially when you throw “collector-flippers” into the mix. 😀

You are probably right. However, if true collectors would not be prepared to engage with the process , the ones who would benefit most, then there would be no chance.
Quite telling what you replied, is it that a good % of collectors are prepared to flip themselves and therefore part of the problem? I know some will sell to mates at cost but think this is the exception?

Something that I didn't see mentioned yet and whilst it might be a deviation from your plan, if you have the time, sell some smaller bits and pieces on the forum to build some feedback first. Whilst I'm not really interested in selling my gold in the short term, moving on some items every now and again just builds some feedback for when I might need or want to sell in the future

Hi Paul. If you are in a position to do do so, it may be worth remortgaging instead. You can still get a 10 year fix deal for around 2% . Would future proof for inflation and you could add a little for a couple more in the series.
5 year deals are still around 1%.

Totally agree, everyone has to weigh the risks for themselves. Personally I think there is little downside here.
Another option would be to flip some bullion or other numismatics which have done well to fund future purchases. We are all adults here I hope.

I was on RM site for half8, patiently waited, did it all by the book. At 9am I was placed circa 1600 in the queue.
I wanted the 5oz silver but would have been happy with the 2oz.
By 9:30 it was obvious I wasn't going to get the 5oz, but I stayed on for the 2oz. I was still around 400 in the queue when people started to say it was a sell out.
Not my day for silver.
I did treat myself to a 1984 sov (birth year). So all things considered, I'll go to bed happy.
Let's be honest, the fact we are all in the position to even contemplate spending these kinds of sums on coins, means we must doing something right!
Well done to the lucky ones today. I'll look forward to your photos!
