My missus today bought me this 1926 half sovereign. Think it's got the SA mint mark. My eyes are bad so I should check with a magnifier to see if it has.

Eagles from Martin at Silvertrader landed today.

After paying off my mortgage today, I went into town to my local bullion dealer and treated myself to an 1880 'Mortgage mintmark' sovereign. Well, that's what I'm thinking the 'M' stands for.

Picked these up on a stall in town today. A New Zealand 1934 shilling along with a nice 1758 sixpence.

I should avoid my local high street when only visiting town for a short trip. Picked this 1912 half sovereign earlier in the local bullion shop.

Nothing spectacular but for £45 from my local shop today I'm happy.

Thanks everyone. Just waiting for the paperwork to arrive feels like an eternity. Once it's all signed and sent off it should take around ten days to finalise. It's the first time I've had an accompanying letter with an amber alert letter, which shows what's in the fund. I'm glad that letter was sent. I'm nervous in case anything goes wrong. I'm hoping it will all go smoothly.

I had a bit of a shock/surprise on Saturday as I had two letters from my endowment provider who firstly said that I've an amber alert with a significant risk of a shortfall. The other letter was to show me the amount that I would get if I cashed out the week before. Well this amount would clear my mortgage 3 years early! I rang the provider who confirmed the amount and they will send me forms to fill out. Then I rang the mortgage provider who said there are no early payment penalties and will send me a statement to show the final amount I owe. I've only ever had an interest only mortgage that only just over two years ago, done a part repayment towards it. Now I've been buying precious metals and putting money into premium bonds in case of a massive shortfall but now I don't have to touch them. I'll be relieved when the paperwork is finally done and no more payments to make. There was no point in carrying on until the end to get maximum out of the policy as what I pay in interest is what I would have paid anyway. The savings I would make could then go onto topping up my pension payments at work. One large weight off my shoulders.

Just been to my favourite bullion dealer in the High Street for the 1/20oz Isle of Man angel and the 1887 silver crown. He only charged me £20 for the silver crown which was nice of him.

Does that mean those with a '666' tattoo now have to change it?

I just had a look on ebay and it seems to be around the correct price range for condition. If you're going to buy it then try to knock them down a few quid and see if they budge with the price.

A few years back on the forum, a member picked up four sovereigns for a tenner each at a car boot sale. He posted it on the forum at the time. All genuine coins.

Only if you're trained in that field of work and your missus don't mind. Premium bonds are a safe bet.

I think you can buy individual trays that fit this case. Might be worth buying one to try, otherwise you'll be stuck with the whole lot if it doesn't fit your capsules.
