Rhodes?

Who makes them?  
Are they intaglio rounds as your pics make them look like normal relief rounds?  Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks because that's what I expect to see.
 
I wish I had a real Akragas obol although I do like the Ephesus bees and Attic owls as well.

Atkinsons have a proof 2004 1/4 Brit for £299 and a 2005 for £312.
Seems half decent at current prices given they are low mintage years but I guess it depends if they've been man handled.

1879/80 and 1904-12 are alloyed with copper and then pickled, 1886-88 are alloyed with silver and from locally sourced gold (Guyana)
The dies were always made by the Monnaie de Paris; while all coins are reeded, the reeding varies from mint to mint with a finer and slightly higher count in Bruxelles, more of a cogwheel reeding from Paris and a rather rough one from Caracas. (I haven't bothered counting)

This is indeed an interesting topic and more prevalent in LMU or UML coins than e.g. sovereign or bullion gold. 
Sometimes it has to do with the pickling: all coins below are 0.900 fine gold alloyed with silver

Left Chervonetz ("red coin"), middle and right 20 Mark; during the pickling the superficial copper is dissolved from the planchets using a strong acid (e.g. H2SO4). Depending on duration and strength of the acid the result can vary as seen above. And while it looks as if there were no UML coins on the picture, the 20 Mark are most likely made from French Francs (reparations from the Franco-Prussian War 1870). 
 
The other options is to alter the gold tone more yellow is to use silver in the alloy as in the 1887 Jubilee Sovereigns. In the few years the Mint in Caracas was operating, Venezuela did exactly this with its gold coins.

the two left coins were minted in Paris and Bruxelles respectively and show the effect of pickling nicely while the two right Ines were minted in Caracas with gold from Guyana, the traces of arsenic in the gold give the greenish tint. 

I hope you haven’t been looking for too long!  I’d hate to think of you looking for years.
Any idea if they bombard you with letters full of “offers” like H&B?  I received three in one day recently.  They may have been the same one sent out repeatedly by mistake but I didn’t open them to see.

There are also the Austro Hungarian coins, Serbian and Tunisian (Monaco?)  I think they didn't join the union officially but did produce coins of equal weight.
