  1. Sadly tariff free is not VAT free, they are two separate systems and taxes. At the moment we have tariff free trade with the EU - but still we have VAT

  5. It is a great idea to build up a credit rating for yourself, especially in the build up to a re-mortgage. I would check with your credit card providers carefully before purchasing precious metals, I seem to remember some of the lesser known credit card companies classified gold as a cash equivalent transaction and so the interest rates would be very different and often much higher - sometimes not even 0% for the first month like most credit cards. Similarly I would imaging charging up your paypal account would be a similar arrangement - best to check with the credit card provider on that too. In terms of making payments for private purchases on the forum, that would be totally dependant on the person at the other end. Most people do not have the ability to take a credit or debit card payment and those that do know that there are payment processing fees to factor in as well. In addition, most sellers would prefer not to have the possibility of credit card chargebacks happening. Not saying that is what you will be doing but it is always a possibility for sellers to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous buyers. This is why I tend to only accept banks transfer payments and really only take credit/debit card payments from existing customers I have dealt with a number of times before. But, if you have a good provider and you buy from some of the big bullion dealers out there I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to make regular payments and pay them off each month to build your credit score.
  6. Photo database of all 250 bars is now live As with previous years we have taken an individual photo of every single bar and have published them on our website. Please feel free to use this photo database to check out your bar(s) match any you might see for sale on the secondary market. Every bar is unique in weight and ripple patterns so these photos are really useful to identify our bars. Or, if you are very impatient you can look at and see what your own individual bar looks like before you receive it! People on the waiting list, might be worth looking at the bars from 201 to 249 to see which ones you like the look of! https://backyardbullion.com/1-oz-silver-forum-bars-2021/
  7. UPDATE - 18th May We have just dropped off the first batch of orders at the post office, thank you to everyone that has already paid for and secured their bars! Tracking numbers will be messaged out individually in the next hour. Waiting list is filling up, bars will be available as always though and our plan is still to wait until the end of May then contact everyone on the waiting list that has been successful in being allocated a bar. Thank you all for such amazing support! BYB (Mrs BYB says hello too - give her some love as she is looking after me exceptionally well considering I cannot drive and am on crutches 🙂 )

  11. Holy moly, those are stunning photos! Thanks for sharing!
  12. I am afraid the serial numbers are all in relation to the different sizes only. We plan to release the 3 oz rounds in October/November this year and as with these 1 oz bars ownership of a 2020 edition guarantees first right of refusal of the 2021 editions. But it does not cross over from different sizes.
  13. OK, Best Gold Coins EVER!? Queen's Beast Completer in 1 oz GOLD Proof & Bullion - Royal Mint Magic!
  14. HMRC knows too, it's a reporting requirement for a purchase that size 😉😃
  15. Anybody with a 2020 edition gets first refusal at the same number. If they haven't confirmed by the end of May then those numbers go for allocation and purchase by people on the waiting list. What we do is take payment from everyone on the waiting list and then open a first come first served basis thread to allocate all remaining serial numbers for people.
  16. Oh yeah, sorry I worded that wrong, probably the painkillers I'm on tonight for my dislocated Knee 😉 I forget the rates but it is based on what tax bracket you are in.
  17. One thing I will add, I have always thought that if you ever get to be in a position to have to worry about and pay capital gains tax then you are in a really good position and there are worse things to be worried about in life!
  18. Welcome to the forum! So, the following is not formal financial advice - but how I understand CGT Capital gains tax is only payable if you make a capital gains profit over the yearly threshold of about £12,300 (I forget the exact number) per person per year. If you make £15,300 profit on an item you have to declare it to HMRC and you will pay tax on the profit over the allowance, in this example that would be £3000 tax. If you are married you can also use your partner's allowance in a tax year too making a total of £24,600 So, unless your gold bars earn more than that in a given year you won't even have to declare anything and you won't have to pay any taxes. Gold UK coins that are £ denominated are exempt from calculations, so you can ignore them. Hope that helps! Hold your gold for a long time, if you can afford it and you will be just fine.
  19. Thanks everyone, I appreciate the continued support. I am trying to work through all the messages and waiting list enquiries as best as I can. That has not been helped by a pretty nasty accident I had today, who knew dislocating ones knee would be so bloody awful. It popped back in on its own after a few minutes, but not very pleasant at all. I'm all good, just sore, stiff and pretty slow to move around so my original plan was to get the first batch posted to people tomorrow, that is now going to have to wait until Monday next week, thank you all for your patience and support! Will be replying to messages/enquiries more tomorrow, for now it's drugs and a sofa for me!
