Hi, I noticed on another forum site a few topics about people finding money etc in their day to day lives and I find it very interesting. Does anybody have any tales about coming across money whether a large amount, small amount, just enough to dig you out of a hole at the time? I’ll start:
a few months ago I was out drinking with my brother and when I started the 45 minute walk home I decided to turn back and get a taxi. It was dark as gone midnight and I spotted £5 on the floor. I picked it up and decided I didn’t want to waste my find on a taxi so happily walked home £5 up. The next day I was on my lunch break at work and spotted behind some rails up against the wall a £10 note in the wind so walked around and scooped that. A lucky couple of days were had 😃

I remember a few years ago several of us visiting a fairground after a few hours in the pub. As we approached the Waltzer, one of my friends found a roll of £20 notes bound with an elastic band, the roll could have very easily choked a Donkey.
To my horror he handed the cash in to the very honest looking tattooed gentlemen operating the Waltzer who squeezed the cash into his jeans pocket for safekeeping.
We all know that fairground workers have a reputation for their probity- we’ve all seen David Essex and Ringo Starr in ‘That’ll Be The Day’

They might be 1g but could be 9ct or 18ct.
Don't forget commission and a lot of the estimates are 'come and buy me' estimates.

Probably a slow news day story - every now and again they talk about coins worth thousands that in fact you can find in your pocket if you look. Not much else is happening around the world for the journalists to write about, so why not raise some old stories about circulating coinage.
As an example - in June, The Express printed this: https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/1142623/ebay-rare-coin-sherlock-holmes-50p-coin-selling-uk-value-worth-royal-mint
The only type worth reading from this story is:  it is not necessarily rare or worth as much as the selling price would suggest.

Hey I took your advice and emailed them the other day. Baldwins replied this morning and said this:

“Thank you, this is a Copper AS of the Emperor Claudius and would be worth roughly £15-20 or thereabouts.”

Fantastic to know and I shall continue to cherish my old coin

@Sliopjbsail I’m providing you a link to Baldwin’s who specialise in ancient coins. @Draconicus is absolutely right that it is an image of Claudius Augustus on one side and Minerva the Goddess on the other. Just follow the link below and email hi-res images of the obverse and reverse sides of your coin to Baldwin’s. One of the deepest regrets that I have as a Silver Forum member is that a fellow member posted an ancient coin worth almost £800 which they thought was worthless. I was going to message him privately but lost sight of his post and name.

Yes it's a old Roman coin. Claudius Augustus on one side and Minerva the Godess on the other . Usualy 41-42 AC.
If it is a legit one, that's another story:)

look for claudius caesar on ancient roman coins
(you'll need someone knowledgeable to verify
    if it's real or not)

I'd bet if they were next to each other taken with the same camera they would look similar.
Either that or ones had a harder life than the other.

The coin category sadly isn't included in these offers anymore. The only way it can be used is if the seller agrees to change the item category.

Good finance starts with budgeting. Your stacking budget should be manageable and clearly defined - in that respect it is no different from anything else you buy. Steady disciplined accumulation wins the day.

This is why homebrewing has suh an appeal. In the South-East you'll be lucky to get two pints for an ounce worth (depending on if you're talking spot or if we're talking actual in-hand price for silver)
