Proof Coin

Bullion Coin

Specimen Coin

Proof
A carefully struck coin using special dies with either a mirror‑like or matt finish. These coins are especially struck and the term is not used to describe a well‑preserved circulating coin. Proof is a method of manufacture, not a condition or grade.
  Uncirculated (UNC)
Uncirculated coins are manufactured in much the same way as circulated coins except for the following:
More attention and time is given to the preparation of the die surface finish, The coins are struck with greater pressure than the circulating coins to improve the sharpness of the design. More care and attention is applied at each step in the coining process to minimise damage, consequently a much lower production rate of about 30,000 coins per press per day is achieved. Uncirculated coins are packaged individually into plastic sleeves, presentation folders or occasionally presentation cases.

I am going to try and get something sorted so all users can upload photos directly to the forum. I will post once its all set up, hopefully shouldn't take me too long.

Today I bought a 2002 Britannia to complete my 2nd (and last) full date runs of Britannias.

Also bought a lunar series 1 rat / mouse. That's my third, and have a deal going for 2 more. That puts me nearly half way there!!!

Just sold a few bits and bobs on eBay so have £350 to drop on silver next week.

Probably will complete my date runs of fiji taku, Noah's arks, and philharmonic. There are a few others I fancy too.

I do not mind buying worn coins (which I think gives them character) as long as they are not offensive to the eye (e.g. harsh scratches or large dinks!).  Whilst it is relatively easy to buy George III, George IV and William IV sovereigns in good condition (as long as you have £900-£2,000 to spend), but it is not that easy to find nice looking worn examples at consequently lower prices. 
The reason I was interested in this topic of underweight sovereigns was because at the time I started the thread I was in the process of buying this worn 1824 sovereign which the vendor said weighed just over 7.5 grams.  For a sovereign this seems light but to me it looks genuine, however, other opinions would be welcome.

Took delivery of a really cute 2019 Gold Panda. It’s a lovely portrait of mother holding its cub and I think this one will go on to become a classic. 
BBP also provided a capsule as if to tempt me even further to remove it from the sacred must not open at all costs sealed plastic envelope.  I am sorely tempted though. Even if I lost money and remember I buy not for investment but purely from the love of gold, I think it looks so much nicer laying alongside the other coins which are also in capsules. 

A few Perth Mint pickups from this week.
First is the new 2oz silver bullion version of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One. Very attractive coin.
Next is the 2oz silver antiqued Dragon & Phoenix coin. I bought one of these when they were first issued and put my name on the waiting list for the 2nd which came in this week. 
And lastly a Christmas present from the mint, a tin of Perth Mint mints!
