People voted to leave the EU three years ago for a number of different reasons. "Vote Leave", the official Brexit campaign, was not [then] officially for a hard Brexit/WTO style exit. Many in Vote Leave and even Leave.eu were for a Switzerland/Norway style exit.
The reality is that support now for a hard/WTO Brexit in the country is marginal, at best. The only two realistic options are either a soft Brexit with some sort of compromise on freedom of movement, or a complete retraction from Art. 50. The rest is only magical thinking.

The fact that the only people left to defend Assange are:
    - Russia
    - The Alt Right, and
    - Diane Abbott
    tell the whole story.

The EU are such bullies! They should give us what we want unconditionally!
Although we don't really know what we want and we don't know when we want it, but they should give it to us now!
And if they give us exactly what we want, it'll mean it's ok for them, so, out of spite, we will reject it!

No, it's just a pile of bullion in a plastic box. Such a box is handy, that's it.
I have not opened mine yet but I will definitely check it. I wouldn't exclude the possibility that it could be a bit easier to sell if unopened with some buyers but all in all it shouldn't make much of a difference. Certainly not in terms of the price, if so then rather in terms of someone buying from you or someone else. But as said, all in all I think it's nearly as saleable as if it was unopened. I have seen a video of a well established German dealer (Heubach) where they recommend, if you buy one from a dealer for the first time, you should check it, only if you buy monsters boxes from the same dealer again and again and trust them, then you should leave it as it is.

Frankly the idea of us getting on our high horse about democracy when we've still got an entirely unelected upper house is kinda hilarious

52% (37% of those eligible to vote, 26% of the country's population), on vague promises, two and a half years ago.
Not saying that it wasn't a majority, just that the rest of the people don't cease to exist.

Good point raised here and ignored by the Hard Brexit cult followers: no deal with the EU means also an end to all deals with non-EU countries currently in place courtesy of EU membership.

An extension of article 50 is not unilateral. It'd have to be approved by the EU. This would lead to much confusion, as there are European elections in May. If there was an extension, the UK would have to be allowed to elect its representatives. Theresa May also said she doesn't want an extension.

Agreed ignorance is a big part of it, leaving the EU is a solution to that. I would be surprised to see increased immigration from the colonies or elsewhere, if it does it will not last long. Politicians have betrayed voters on immigration for too long already. David Cameron said he would reduce immigration to the tens of thousands, before he let in record numbers. When people realised what was going on and started to move towards UKIP, the pressure forced Cameron to call the EU Referendum vote, in order to put UKIP to bed again. It worked - but the issue of immigration has not gone away. It was perhaps the driving issue as to why so many voted leave.
Once the UK is out of the EU our politicians will have no where to hide as they can no longer blame immigration numbers on freedom of movement. Without the EU, the issue becomes simple - our politicians are the only ones to blame if immigration continues at levels detrimental to the majority and they will be made to pay for it by being voted out of office.
