Not sure if anyone has mentioned this on here yet, but they published the sales figures for their 2019 commemorative coins yesterday.

I think the most pleasant low number surprise for me (as I have one) is not something I was expecting... The Snowman 2019 UK 50p Brilliant Uncirculated Strike Your Own Coin with only 877 sales!

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit dumb but are you guys talking about car industry (as you mentioned parts)? I hear it's in trouble because used prices rocketed (due to Covid stopping production of new cars), so now that people are skint and not buying, the dealers are over stocked - with the stock they paid too much for - and now repossessions are kicking in, meaning even more over supply. I have a friend who works for BMW (sales team) and there's talks of huge lay offs (not sure which departments exactly).
BTW, I'm selling low value items on the internet (£12-19). But in huge quantities at Christmas (well, not so much this year). I flew through the 2008 recession, but this time around it's different. The cost of living is affecting everyone's daily spending so it's way worse. And this is before recession has officially been announced. It's gonna get so ugly out there. 😔
So we many not see the usual January PM price drop this time around....
I'm predicting by March, when the winter bills kick in (for businesses who are also getting no sales), then the lay offs are going to really kick in, unemployment at a record high and the interest rates really start to pivot (always happens with mass unemployment). So "Kerching!" day for the PMs. I am expecting a huge hike in 2023 - but they'll hike way way more over several years as this recession is gonna be longer than anything we've ever seen (in my humble opinion of course. I do hope I'm wrong as it's gonna be bloody miserable for most!)

I can’t get that if they are trying to sell out why aren’t they available on the web.    I buy a fair bit from the royal mint but don’t have an account manager so even if I wanted to pick up more coins they say they aren’t available

With the royal mints lust for money that I can’t see changing they could change the design on the sovereign every year like they do with the Brit.    This will persuade collectors to get every year because ‘it’s a unique design’.     They are watering down the prestige of the sovereign with every release

Many one have an updated list of sovereign varieties.      I’ve got the marsh book but think that only goes up to 2017.      Must be another 20 odd on that with sotd’s.

Mixed farming has the advantage. Pig muck, cattle muck, sheep rotated through on clover and root crops. Who needs artificial fertiliser.. or certainly not in the vast amounts that the agri barons regularly use. Shame I don’t still have chickens on the allotment.

There are a number of factors involved:
First, the UK is still a very small market for precious metal bullion. While I do not have exact figures to hand, I guess the USA market is 10 times bigger than the UK. Next is probably Germany, which may also be approaching the size of the US market. Third is probably the far east. After that, I don't know.
This means the most likely direct buyers for these will be US or German distributors. This makes it easier for small US and German dealers to source these coins locally. It is also why for most of the last 10 years, we have been sourcing most of our RM coins from outside the UK.
While we deal in (real) numismatic coins, new RM commemoratives, and bullion coins, it is not easy for us to stock everything.
For the major bullion coins, we can buy more competitively outside the UK than within, so we are able to sell at competitive prices. Our long-term main bullion products were and are secondary market gold sovereigns, and all other secondary market coins and bullion. The three major new bullilon coins are gold sovereigns, gold (Ounce) Britannias, silver (Ounce) Britannias. Most of our bullion attention and efforts are channelled into these 4 products / categories.
Fractional sizes cost more to produce, therefore are not as good a buy for volume investors. Mints charge higher premiums, probably to make up for the lower production and sales volumes, which compounds the higher price / premium problem. Many if not most large distributors don't bother handling fractionals, meaning there is less choice when it comes to sourcing them.
The Mint does not run fractionals as stock lines, so distributors can only order at launch, or if the Mint get enough demand to mint another batch.
Distributors often want a bigger margin to compensate for the extra effort, lower sales, and slower stockturn, not to mention greater downside risk it they get stuck with unsold inventory.
I am sure the Mint also views Tudor Beasts as premium products, so they get priced at higher premiums than sovereigns or Britannias.
Fractional Beasts therefore suffer a double whammy.
For us to be able to offer stuff like this competitively, we need to find a big foreign distributor who will sell us a relatively small quantity at a modest price. We don't want to offer products where we cannot be competitive.
Setting up low volume stuff on our systems and website costs relatively more than for high volume sellers. Sometimes these setup costs would exceed any profit we would expect to make.
I could probably list more reasons, but...
    Dinner is ready!
    😎
