HighlandTiger got a reaction from Paul in What will the price of Gold be (£/GBP) on 1st Jan 2022
Gold will go up next year and it will also go down. The £ however will rise against the $ and Euro, due to Brexit boost, GDP up and the UK getting out of Covid much faster (We'll get to 70% inoculation by April/May)  than either the US (they wont get to 70% population inoculation until September at the earliest) or the EU, (they'll still be struggling to get over 50% by December), so any rise in Gold in $ will be negated by the strength of the £.
Gold will be about $2000 but gold in £ will be about the same as now, £1,400. Silver on the other hand will be about £24.
Also the numbers 03, 10, 16, 28, 42, 44 will win a raffle or lottery sometime, somewhere in the world  in 2022

HighlandTiger reacted to Pete in The future of silver, VAT and import charges into the UK now a Deal has been done!?
We always treat the Channel Isles as part of the UK but they are outside the EU.
Anything being shipped from the Channel Isles below a value ( around £12 I think ?? ) is subject to VAT and packages have always had to have a customs declaration, or if postage paid electronically a declaration filed on-line. So now that the transition period is ending, all goods arriving from the EU will be subject to VAT but not duty or quotas as that's in the agreement. Buying from GS.be or the European Mint for example will be invoiced VAT free but subject to UK VAT on arrival. Freedom of movement of goods has come to an end.

just buy from bullionvault in 2021
no VAT, no massive mark ups, no delivery fees, no milk spotting, no waiting for delivery, no hassles when selling

BYB is correct. There will be a 20% VAT charge on all silver coming into the UK. The EU exporters will have to fill in customs forms for all UK deliveries. So you will get stung for VAT I'm afraid.

    wooooh, slow down.

Nobody knows what is going to happen.
VAT is not the same as trade tariffs, so whilst there are no import tariffs to pay there may very well still be VAT to pay. The relationship between UK VAT system and free market is yet to be fully understood.
I am personally not purchasing anything until I have it in concrete that I know what is happening.

Apologies, I wasn't directing that comment specifically at yourself. However I am just repeating what at least 4 coin dealers that I know personally are saying. They just can't shift the stuff.
Here at the silver forum, most of our members are extremely savvy, and are always looking for a bargain. The chances of you getting the price you are thinking of is going to be low. Simply because the people on this forum are more interested in silver bullion and proof pieces from national mints.
However I'd suggest advertising them on eBay, or even Etsy, (I've seen sets like yours for sale there in the past). Chances are you'll get closer to your asking price.
    Good luck. 😁👍

Hey, believe me, I wish I had a Highland Tiger telling me the stuff I bought in the start of my PM journey was a load of old overpriced tat. Instead I had a number of forum members who were flogging the stuff telling me I was doing the right thing. (something I still see happening)
    I learnt the hard way......

These sets from makers such as Pinches are not worth much more than scrap value. There is no collecting market for these overpriced items.
Personally I'd clean them using a silver dip and a soft cloth. You might add a few percent extra on the price you can get.

Lol, the Franklin Mint. Anybody who buys any of their tat, brand new at those prices needs their head examined.
I know coin dealers with safes full of this stuff, which they buy and sell below spot value, (much to the surprise of the seller who having paid well over the odds, thought they were onto a winner) I've bought loads of this stuff over the years, never paid more than 5% over spot and never sold it for much more either.
