  1. I wonder it won't be long until the KING'S beasts are released!
  2. Some mints will produce proper coloured coins, Perth Mint do and they aren't that popular. I have a few Perth Mint Lunar I and II coloured That i got at a good price. Some folk like them a bit like privy coins but often less demand than the original.
  3. Price is key but compare millions of ase every month with the total population of libs? I would be going for Libertads every time!
  4. The idea that the royal mint (rm) is best is a flawed one. I for no would NEVER EVER buy directly from them. When i do buy one of their products it is always from a 3rd party that has some honesty and a functioning quality control dept (Not Aunt Betty that is more worried about dropping a stitch on her knitting cause she forgot her glasses that day). There are plenty of bullion and coin dealers out there that have competitive prices for rm stuff and after a few months the premium is often lost and can be had at a good price!
  5. Most mint will privately mint coins there are many european mints that do exactly this. I would assume the mint would have an agreement with a small commonwealth state to produce what they like and pay a licence fee to that country.
  6. I remember them back in the day. I thought about them but if i remember the premium they carried was based on their 99999 and not a particularly great design i would guess that this would still carry a small premium if advertised correctly.
  7. The royal mint held in high-regard ? Eh! where did you hear that? Here in the UK where the royal mint is our national mint the significant problems experienced with the often poor design, damaged goods, lack of quality control, poor packaging n presentation cases, long delivery times and shockingly poor customer service doesn't bode well for customers of the royal mint. Far better quality and design can be had from the Perth Mint, Royal Australian mint, Pobjoy Mint or Canadian Mint. If I'm correct some mints have 2023 coins being released this year with the queen on them too!
  8. Wealth protection or a wild gamble? I got some for my collection so neither. Was looking at a couple of nobles but info i've found is fragmented so can't make a educated decision.
  9. And the pre-decimal and decimal co-existed with the 5p's and 10p's with the 1 bob and 2 bob bit (or shillings).
  10. Unfortunately this and many other sites doesn't show all the mintages and years that all sizes in BU and proofs were produced.
  11. Looking for any reliable info on all sizes and years of the Isle of Man Noble in all of it's Pt guises? Mintage numbers seem to be all over the place for every year both BU and Proof versions!Looked at a few different sites and all have figures!
  12. I would expect no change in pricing. Lower VAT = higher premiums = same price.
  13. I got a broken leg and foot now from a motorcycle accident now i can't work or go sailing. So i know how you feel!
  14. What makes the difference is why you're buying? I now see silver as a collecting hobby date runs and typeset collecting look at some of the Germania mint offerings or power coins. Gold is more of a wealth protection safe haven for me with a much lower spread than silver (even without VAT) and if i want a quick out with a larger sum of cash a couple of sovereigns is that quick and easy way. I got bigger pieces than sovs but can access a wide total (£) with 0.10, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 Toz coins and 5g, 10g, 20g, 50g and 100g bars to choose from. It's much easier to save with smaller goin coins too. And i do think dealers will and do in many cases fill the drop in spot with a increase in premium for a short time. Maybe the size of company can't take the loss of these dips. Maybe it is just price gouging. Either way premiums are a way that companies stay in business, we call it premium, they call it profit. without profit a business wouldn't be there. There are companies like the above mentioned Atties and Chards that have different ways of working with the inc P&P or not. Usually prices are evenly matched when a couple of coins are purchased. Some will have better availability on new coins and some on older secondhand stock and some will be less bullion with more emphasis on more collecting higher quality items. Atties are more new coins and bars, Chards older coins especially sovs and Silvertrader, power coin on collectibles. Chards are the only company i can see that openly still do an old fashioned phone me up for stuff with their "Stocklist collection" I rarely use Atties or Chards for silver purchases because of their pricing and availability issues. All these markets will have difference business structures with different premiums to support their profits.
  15. Maybe the rm should be in touch as the designers they have at the moment ain't that good.
  16. Not looking for anything specific at the moment. I haven't noticed these (dead ie not live) items before. I think that without a price i don't think i would really bother looking too much either really kills my impulse buying!
  17. @LawrenceChard What are the benefits of the stocklist collection? I have clicked onto the above link and just noticed this quite large list of coins in a sort of generic order without pics and a very brief description.
  18. Gold Nothing smaller than 10g for me!
  19. Royal mint proofs ain't any better! Buy from a third party like silver trader that is honest and reliable not rm with a dishonest and unreliable qc dept. The trouble is people keep buying their poor quality over priced tat.
  20. 5oz of gold and all my regular series of silver coins and bars prob about 150oz of silver. My new off site storage i now have means the larger 1KG coins are now a viable option so whenever i can get the i'll snap some of then up too!
  21. So if i'm in the blackpool area can i wander in off the street with a large wad of cash and ID to purchase a few fractional gold coins and some bars or do i have to have an appointment and request coins i'd like to view with intention to buy some of them? @LawrenceChard
  22. Now i really am hacked off 4 different e-mail alerts with uk bullion dealers have failed me! and a couple from the TSF! As the years have gone on i haven't remembered a lot of important stuff so i thought the e-mail alerts was the way to go obviously i was very very wrong! Over a few years now there has been a noticeable reduction in the availability of the coins i would buy from UK dealers and an increase in the numbers that i now have to buy from far away places like Germany and Australia where they are freely available! Even the normally reliable Chards has this coin as TBC! I guess just as a safeguard i will be getting all my metals imported from a foreign source with the exception of a few coins i get from silver trader.
  23. Any idea on the release of the Perth Mint 2022 Year of the Tiger Lunar 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin?
