  1. If i personally were to go down the route of bartering then i would have a bit of silver a bit of gold and a cunning plan. I have a small garden at the rear of my garden so if everything went digital i would stay in the system so the banks stay away i'd grow veg, some fruit trees and keep chickens. I'd sell a few well chosen pieces that i would have to salvage from a boating accident, buy a hen coop and a run but i'd buy an egg incubator and start a egg farm with a few chickens as a side hustle. Would the government of the day be worried or concerned about a few eggs and some apples n pears? With a wee bit of planning a few oz of silver and 1 or 2 oz of gold you can be looking at rich pickings.
  2. ROYAL MINT establish a WORKING QUALITY CONTROL dept for the first time in their 1000 year+ history PLZ plz plz.
  3. I always get multiple items when ordering and always do a do a price comparison on the final total. Chards ain't always cheaper but maybe 70% of the time and i think that is the best test for anything. The overall amount of cash leaving your account or pocket. My last purchase wasn't from chards using this method but if i had used chards over atties i would have saved £51.30 using chards. By going elsewhere i did save another £12.30 and atties weren't the most expensive either. The postage has to be paid one way or another so maybe @Chards @LawrenceChard chards have the correct approach but could it be better probably yeah.
  4. Was it bought from the rm i'd return it get a refund then buy cheaper from a reputable source. If bought from a reputable source drop them an e-mail and see what they say
  5. I don't stack historical silver coins. I have a few old I/2p 1p 2p shillings florins and only the double florins have any silver content. Not many but nice to have. My silver stack is decimal era modern stuff a tube of these and a tube of those type of thing. Perth mint has good silver and gold collectable bullion stuff but Gold LMU coins are thing are great. Most of my gold stack is older sovs cheap and plentyful.
  6. Insure the boats we're having a regatta.
  7. Not a coin. It's a round or medal. The south korean currency is the won not clay.
  8. Like many have said just do some due diligence to make sure it's real and go for the best price per ounce.
  9. Not forgetting the sovereign. Can it not still be used as a £1 coin if you felt foolish enough?
  10. I'm looking for an old chard sovereign page with years available and mintages. @LawrenceChard can you help? I can't find the page anymore. Ta much.
  11. Even for caps, tubes and presentation cases i use alternative delivery addresses. After all loose lips sink ships and all the seemingly unrelated boating accidents reported here over the last few years you can't be too careful !
  12. With China being such an old country i'd have thought that they would have their own archaic imperial weights and measures that would show them westerners a thing or two. Instead going for the more modern SI system.
  13. That would explain the artwork. Still not a 50p i'd buy.
  14. Most people know the rm's shortcomings but if they're the only ones that don't know there are some really bad people running things there. On some of BYB youtube stuff he says he is reporting problems and even has achieved some resolutions to his problems such as the poor quality caps and loose coins with a simple packing solution. The rm are complacent with their underachievements and who knows with the correct management and attitude all these problems could be a thing of the past. IF only!
  15. I wouldn't really go with silver. Maybe some fractional gold with the lowest premiums possible. And stay with proper sellers Bairds are quite good too.
  16. The hologram could have ERII and KC3 on it! That would be unusual.
  17. Would the coin have a subject matter and design that the buyers really likes then i don't see a problem. All but the most ardent stacker will have favorites that they are willing to spend their hard earned on.
  18. What about a nice one off sov. I've heard that there was a time when the rm did nice gold coloured ones with a dragon on them without ciphers or privys. Might be a idea to start KC3 reign with a special.
  19. Unlucky you must be uncomfortable at the beach. Most guys inside leg is about 5" to 8" !!!!
  20. Stuff of nightmares! The coloured version is hideous!
  21. I would personally get a good quality capsule for it and leave it in that. I use air-tite caps a very good quality brand.
  22. The problems at the rm are well documented here and on the web. People for some strange reason continue to buy their overpriced poor quality tat.
  23. None of the carnage at the rm surprises me any longer! Longest running joke in history the royal mint!
